I am a current student at the University of Chicago. I am working towards a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, and I am on the pre-medical track. I am extremely passionate about tutoring, and I have several years of experience tutoring students in my high school's learning center in various subjects as well as tutoring private clients in Standardized Test preparation. Given that I graduated high school recently, I have taken several Standardized Tests and high school subjects myself, so I have a comprehensive understanding of not only how to tutor these subjects and exams, but also what it is like to take them. While I have a wide range of interests and am able to tutor various subjects, I am most passionate about tutoring in Standardized Test preparation (including ACT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, and AP Exams), Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Spanish. I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.

I'm a graduate of Columbia College Chicago; after exploring many fields of interest (writing, linguistics, computer science, and more), I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design graduating Cum Laude.

I am a graduate of the MA Fashion Studies program at Parsons The New School for Design in New York, having previously studied linguistics and foreign languages (concentrating in Russian and French) at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and at McGill University in Montreal. I currently serve as adjunct faculty in the Art and Design History and Theory department at Parsons, where I specialize in courses which combine numerous disciplines within the humanities, such as a course about the relationship between fashion and language and a graduate seminar about writing for fashion publications. I have also led elementary summer art camp workshops in my hometown of Los Alamos, New Mexico. My teaching methods, which are interactive, engaging, and tailored to a range of learning styles, have consistently been described by my students as motivational and encouraging. I tutor a wide range of subjects, from Middle School Math to PSAT and SAT test preparation, but I am most passionate about Critical Reading and Writing and Essay Editing. These are areas in which my students make remarkable progress in short periods of time and also find great pleasure in relating the themes of their writing to their own outside interests and passions. I also enjoy helping students prepare to take standardized tests by addressing, in an understanding and accommodating way, the common anxieties and stresses that can accompany test-taking. Outside of school and tutoring, I enjoy traveling, reading, visiting museums, cooking, and snowboarding.

I am a recent college graduate currently pursuing a career in publishing in New York City. My interest in tutoring and the publishing industry stem from the same source: I want to help instill in others the same love of learning I have felt throughout my life. Whether it's getting lost in a good book or feeling the thrill of excitement at finally solving a difficult math problem, I feel that learning should be fun and viewed as a challenge, not a chore. Throughout my academic career, I have been a well-rounded student, excelling in math as well as language and literature. I am a notoriously good test-taker, a skill developed from solid study habits that I hope to pass on to future students. For me, tutoring is my way of giving back to my community and paying forward the help I've gotten from teachers, mentors, and fellow students throughout my life.

I am currently working on a Master of Arts in Philosophy at Georgia State University, where I serve as a teaching assistant and writing consultant. I currently tutor in the areas of test preparation, government, philosophy, and religious studies. My passion for education stems from the joy I find in helping students achieve their goals. My teaching style involves asking lots of strategic questions to help students discover answers for themselves, a process which my students typically find quite empowering. Still, I recognize that each student has unique needs, questions, and learning styles, so I strive to listen first and then craft individualized plans to meet each student's particular objectives. In my spare time I like to get outside hiking, playing soccer, or volunteering at my church's community garden. I also enjoy reading, watching football, and cooking.

I am not teaching or grading papers, I can usually be found playing some brass instrument or another, umpiring baseball, trying out a new recipe in the kitchen, or spending far too much time on Netflix.

I'm available to tutor biology, chemistry, physics, math from Algebra up through AP Calculus, SAT test prep, and French. I've been tutoring students in science and math for 7 years. I also spent 8 months working and studying in France, and have tutored high school and adult students in French. When I'm not working or studying, I love playing volleyball (indoors or on the beach!) and spending time outside, canoeing or hiking with my dog. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
