The first half of the session we briefly covered some general chemistry concepts, such as Lewis dot diagrams and bond types (electronegativity). In algebra 1 we covered some questions and discussed how to simplify rational expressions and rules of exponents. The student struggled a little bit on this concept, but by the end of the session was doing remarkably well on his own. He remained positive throughout the entire session. I left him with the remainder of his assignment as well as extra practice.

Several of the problems required applying the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus in different approaches, as well as creative application of techniques for integrating difficult problems.

The student and I worked through a take-home quiz on rotating and translating polynomial equations and the graphical representation of those equations. We also worked on factoring polynomials. He then did about 25 homework problems covering adding and subtracting polynomial expressions and calculating perimeters and using polynomial equations to model salary disparities between men and women.
