Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered chapter 4.1 which was integration. We did several problems from his homework and he barely needed my help! We also received feedback on his performance on his recent test. I asked that he speak up more with questions and concerns and I will check in with him more often as we work through the material. I also am going to look into algebra techniques to help with his exam. He has the rest of his chapter 4 homework to work on between now and our next session Friday."
"We completed the work started at the first session on full function analysis. She knows how to find critical points, maxima minima and concavity orientation. She did well too on computing derivatives. The session went great."
"Continuing from last time, the student and I spent a bit more time on Chain Rule. After that, we moved on to implicit differentiation. Finally, we jumped briefly into Related-Rates problems, which involve implicit differentiation. We did most of her homework problems. She is going to try and finish the rest of the problems from the section, and if she can do them all on her own then next week we'll move on!"
"We covered topics for his calculator-based test tomorrow including analyzing tables. We started working on non-calculator-based work to prepare for the second part of his test this upcoming Monday."
"In this session we tackled a math assignment that the student got from school. It was geometry, but it focused more on the conceptual portion, rather than straight-out number crunching. Although she found it a little challenging, we took our time and she eventually overcame the obstacles. The exercises were mostly proofs that involved cubes, cylinders, polygons, and their combinations. As always, I did a few problems step-by-step, which I left with her to go over on her own."
"The student prepared her for her quiz that she was having at the end of the week covering converting degrees to radians, reference and co-terminal angles, and vocabulary associated with these concepts. At the beginning of the session, she seemed a little hesitant on some of the material (conversions and co-terminal angles) but after going through practice problems it seemed to stick and she became more comfortable with solving the problems. She said she'll review the material some more before her quiz."
