My father's favorite teacher at Archbishop Molloy High School in New York City once said to him, "I don't teach a subject, I teach young people." As I lay on a large rock across from delicate arch with seventeen other high school students, I contemplated the rest of my life. On that night, I decided that I wanted to study the earth and discover its history. During sophomore year of high school, I was presented with an opportunity to take a three-week summer earth science class, called Summer Earth Studies, which would survey the western U.S. using the earth as its textbook. That trip changed my life, as I realized that I wanted to study the earth and use inquiry-based learning methods to help every student learn. For the last two years, I have been teaching middle school science at Brandon Hall School in Sandy Springs. This has been a wonderful experience allowing me to challenge myself in many ways including interpersonally, curriculum and educational design, time management, and leadership. Brandon Hall is an international and local school with both day and boarding students allowing the faculty and students to interact with a wealth of diverse individuals on a daily basis. As a result of this working and living environment, I have learned how to talk to people from many walks of life from different cultures, backgrounds, ages, and influence. Teaching middle school has been a gigantic challenge calling on my problem solving skills and ingenuity every day to plan and execute lessons, deal with problems as they arise during these lessons, maintain decorum and a positive attitude during difficult days and with challenging students, and then reflect on the process and assess what succeeded and what needs to be changed during the next day, week, or month to allow both my students and I to succeed. This experience has prepared me to take on the next challenge with the skills to help any student succeed.

I began tutoring just after graduating from my undergrad program. I have picked it up again after just finishing graduate school--I'm now a Doctor of Chiropractic. I have been an athlete all of my life, and a coach for most--I have a coaching mentality and bring it to tutoring...I like to think I am a pretty nice coach ;)I'll try my best to bring as many tools to the table as possible, so we can work as a team to work through any problem that may arise.

My teaching and tutoring experience began when I became frustrated by the public school system for my own children. Sometimes they needed extra help, while in other cases they were surpassing the curriculum available in both public and private schools. This experience opened my eyes, and I began homeschooling. In particular, I helped my last child, who is profoundly gifted, until she entered college at 13 years of age. I also have experience working in an inclusionary classroom with special needs children. Additionally, I worked to help college students succeed with goal setting and keeping on track to graduate from college. My most recent educational endeavor is working with an ESL school in Brazil teaching and tutoring all ages.I believe that you are never to old to learn new things. I love exploring and finding innovative ways of doing things. My hobbies include painting, sewing, crafting, gardening and travel. I love animals and have had many, including some most exotic ones while I lived in Brazil. I don't like to watch TV, but I love music! I have a wide variety of musical interests.

In my journey as an English literature student, I am striving to become a college professor of English. As part of that goal, I want to help students from all backgrounds get a quality education and not feel judged. In my public school education, I struggled myself with vision issues, which caused my education to dwindle, but it took one amazing teacher to ensure I found my way again. I hope to be the same for students.I received my bachelor's of arts from the University of Central Florida in English with Creative Writing. This degree qualifies me to tutor and teach grammar, spelling, writing, creative writing, and anything English related. On top on my bachelor's, I obtained my master's degree at the University of Alabama for English Literature in 2023. Currently, I am a PhD candidate in Literature at the University of Texas-Dallas and a Rhetoric and Composition Instructor.Overall, I am a tutor looking to mentor students to their highest potential. All students need to be successful is someone to believe in them and I promise I always will believe in each and every student.

I am a lifelong learner who is excited to work with you! I am an avid reader (I read 150 books last year) and am always looking for something new to teach myself. My new goals are becoming more fluent in French and HTML, and to more consistently write on my theater blog. I love to travel and another goal is to take an international trip this year, to Africa. My full time job is in marketing for a construction company. This has helped me gain some perspective on how hard it can be to learn new subjects you are unfamiliar with. I am constantly learning new things every day from people with completely different skill sets than me, and it's fascinating to work on such a diverse range of projects. My parents and two of my sisters are teachers, so I am familiar with many age groups and learning needs. I've also served as a teacher and tutor myself, particularly in reading and ESL. I am interested in tutoring many subjects - please contact me if you are interested in working together!

I am a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. I graduated Cum Laude in May, 2013.I received my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a minor in Philosophy. Since graduation, I have been coaching wrestling at a nearby high school, as well as serving at a local restaurant. I have been tutoring students since I was in high school, in subjects ranging from simple arithmetic to advanced calculus to SAT preparation. I have even tutored middle school and high school Spanish! My clients have ranged from middle school students to college students. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about mathematics. I have found that there is no correct way to tutor students, for every student has vastly different needs; therefore, I try to always teach in a way that specifically caters to each individual's specific needs. I strongly believe that a good education is key to a happy and successful life. Oftentimes, students just need the right person with the right teaching style for that education to be a fun, easy process. In my free time, I enjoy reading, working out, word and number games, and spending time with my friends and family.

Hello! I am an English - ESL - Portuguese teacher who has been working with education for over 20 years and I simply love what I do!Regarding my teaching philosophy, I perceive myself as a professional teacher and mentor who is skilled and intrinsically motivated to facilitate students’ intellectual, ethical, and social development. While I believe learning can and does take place anywhere and everywhere, I propose that there are four multi-faceted elements particularly conducive to fostering an effective classroom environment: 1.) a caring, patient, skilled, and prepared instructor acting as a facilitator and guide; 2.) a consistent atmosphere of encouragement of students’ diverse exploration and self-directed learning endeavors; 3.) an overarching focus on the development of knowledge and skills related to learning empowerment; and 4.) a tireless promotion of peace, social justice, and respect for all people, their backgrounds, and cultures. In my free time, I love going to the movies or watching films at home, listening to music, exercising, and reading. I also love to travel, learn new languages and new cultures!I am looking forward to becoming your teacher and hope we will meet soon!
