As a dedicated Computer Science student at the University of Georgia, I am passionate about utilizing my knowledge to foster a love for learning in young minds. My experience as a Lead Instructor at Mathnasium has allowed me to mentor students aged 6 to 16, where I emphasize the importance of a strong educational foundation. I created and taught a coding class that introduced students to Java, HTML, and CSS, demonstrating that coding is rooted in logical thinking rather than just technical skills. I specialize in mathematics and have a strong background in Spanish and chemistry, believing in connecting subject matter to students' interests for enhanced engagement. My teaching philosophy revolves around building confidence through supportive interactions, often incorporating personal anecdotes to make lessons relatable. I find joy in sports, which helps me connect with students and create a fun learning environment. I am committed to inspiring students to embrace challenges and develop a lifelong passion for learning.

I am a DC-barred attorney and a 2024 graduate of Georgetown Law. I have a BA from the University of Washington in International Studies with a focus on international human rights. Prior to earning my BA I served a term in AmeriCorps NCCC before working for several years in the gaming industry. I have had a variety of experiences tutoring others, from LSAT tutoring during law school to volunteering to tutor English and test prep skills as a teenager to more extensive coaching and mentoring in my jobs. I assisted in tutoring and training other corps members in specific skills while in AmeriCorps, and in my various roles in the games industry, I put together and led a variety of training sessions for new hires, as well as provided coaching and mentoring for colleagues. I understand the stress and fear that students can feel going into standardized testing, especially a large exam like the LSAT, and am passionate about helping others feel prepared going into their tests so that they can perform their very best. I work to empower my students to not only develop their skillsets in the areas that they will be tested on, but also to help them feel capable and confident in their abilities. I hope to help my students find bits and pieces of the exam that they can have fun with to make it feel more achievable. Outside of school and tutoring, I enjoy hiking, working out, watching K- and C-dramas, visiting museums, and finding new restaurants to try!

Hi, really nice to meet you! I have 10 years experience teaching GRE. I taught GRE and GMAT as an Adjunct Professor at American University for 3 years, which enhanced my ability to create a standardized GRE itinerary for the classroom. I have taught GRE at Varsity Tutors for 5 years, in person and virtually to individual students, and I was rated in the top 10 percent of tutors by students. Prior to working at Varsity, I taught at Princeton Review for 2 years, teaching the GRE in a classroom setting. I received a score of 730 on my Verbal Section and a score of 770 on my Quantitative Section. I use the ETS GRE text, as the Educational Testing Service (ETS) creates and administers the exam, and I find it the most realistic indicator of how the questions will appear on test day. I hand out guides for the Quantitive section (with formulas and hints for the Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Data Analysis chapters) and the Verbal and Essay sections (with tips for learning vocabulary and guides for Sentence Equivalence, Reading Comprehension, and the Issue Essay). I received my BA in English Literature and U.S. History from Vanderbilt University in 2005, my MA in U.S. History from The George Washington University in 2010, and my MBA in Medical Policy Management from the University of Minnesota in 2024.

I am a driven, positive, affirming tutor who is happy to help students in any way he can. I graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College in 2020, and I obtained my Master's in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2022. In 2016, I received an SAT score of 1550. That year, I also received a 5 on my AP exams in Calculus AB, English Language, U.S. History, and U.S. Government. I am happy to tutor students in mathematics, English, and social sciences (e.g., history, government). I especially enjoy tutoring pre-algebra and algebra. I believe in a practice-based approach in which I take students step-by-step through the concepts at hand. After practicing together with my guidance, the student will soon be able to apply what they have learned on their own.

Frequently Asked Questions
A writing tutor provides personalized feedback on the elements that matter most—thesis development, argument structure, evidence integration, and revision strategies. Rather than just correcting grammar, tutors help you understand why certain choices strengthen your writing and guide you through the process of developing your own voice and style. With one-on-one instruction, you get targeted feedback on your specific weaknesses, whether that's organization, clarity, or supporting your claims effectively.
Grammar is the foundation—correct punctuation, sentence structure, and word choice ensure your ideas are clear and professional. Style, on the other hand, is about how you express those ideas: your tone, sentence variety, word selection, and overall voice. A strong writer masters both. Tutoring addresses both elements, starting with grammar fundamentals if needed, then helping you develop a distinctive, compelling writing style that engages readers and communicates your unique perspective.
Writer's block usually stems from one of a few issues: unclear thinking about your topic, perfectionism, or not knowing how to start. Tutors help by breaking the writing process into manageable steps—brainstorming ideas, creating outlines, drafting without judgment, and then revising. They also teach strategies like freewriting, asking guiding questions to clarify your thinking, and building momentum by focusing on one section at a time rather than the whole essay at once.
Absolutely. Many students find citation formats confusing, but they're learnable with clear guidance. Tutors can explain how MLA and APA differ, show you how to format in-text citations and works cited pages correctly, and teach you the reasoning behind these formats. More importantly, they help you understand why proper attribution matters—not just as a rule to follow, but as a way to acknowledge sources and build credibility in your writing.
Literary analysis requires you to move beyond summarizing a text to interpreting what it means and why the author made specific choices. Tutors guide you in developing strong analytical claims, finding textual evidence that actually supports those claims, and explaining the significance of that evidence. They teach you how to read closely for literary devices, themes, and character development, then help you organize those observations into a coherent, persuasive essay that demonstrates genuine understanding.
The best writing tutors combine subject expertise with strong teaching skills. Look for someone who understands essay structure, argumentation, and grammar thoroughly, but also listens carefully to your specific challenges and adjusts their approach accordingly. They should ask questions that help you think deeper about your own writing, provide clear feedback with specific examples, and encourage you to take ownership of your revision process rather than simply fixing errors for you.
Improvement depends on how frequently you work with a tutor and how actively you apply feedback. Many students notice better organization and clearer thesis statements within 2-3 sessions. Developing a more sophisticated writing style and consistently strong essays typically takes longer—usually several weeks of regular practice and feedback. The key is consistent practice between sessions, applying what you've learned to new assignments, and building confidence in your ability to revise your own work effectively.
