I have Masters Degrees in Elementary Education, Biology, and Middle School Science from Hofstra University and NYU, and I am also a former Respiratory Therapist.
Science is the study of how the world works and I love finding it in everyday life and demonstrating it through hands on activities. Also, my background as a Respiratory Therapist will be very useful when we study the human body. Math and science are both subjects that are made up of patterns to be discovered and I will challenge my students to find them as part of problem solving quests. I feel that when students are able to discover the puzzle underlying subject material, learning becomes more fun. In addition, I greatly enjoy children’s literature and have many fond memories of the stories I grew up with, which I hope to instill in my students.
My other interests include enjoying nature and the outdoors, biking, hiking, gardening, astronomy, and animals. Furthermore, my work in pediatrics gave me the opportunity to develop rewarding relationships with children, which has contributed to my desire to become a teacher.
