I have had many years in schooling, started with an undergraduate training in Chemistry, followed by a Masters degree in Organic Chemistry, a Medical Doctorate (MD) degree, and a Doctoral degree (PhD) in Biophysics at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, I am a clinical research fellow at MGH. During this long journey, I have gained a lot of knowledge and accomplishments which put me in a place where I am ready to commit myself to help you prepare for your exams. Teaching is my way of paying back to my own great teachers. Hopefully one day you will continue this cycle.I have had tutored and taught many students, just like you. Some of them are now graduate students and even postdoctoral fellows. I am proud of them and this is the feeling that inspires me for teaching. My teaching strategy is based on a simple concept: Understand not memorize. This may seem obvious but unfortunately sometimes the education system is not based on this key idea. I am here to help you implement this strategy, no matter what area we are going to study together. My favorite subjects to teach are: Chemistry, Math and Biology. My favorite exams to teach include: SAT Math, GRE Quantitative, GRE Chemistry, and the MCAT. In general, any exam related to any of my favorite 3 subjects.I am offering you the knowledge I gained during 4 years of BS in Chemistry two years of MS in Organic Chemistry, four years of MD and six years of PhD in Biophysics, as well as the experience I have from several years of tutoring/teaching and lifelong passion for teaching. With my whole heart I would love to see you achieve much more.Successful teachers are those whose students are even more successful.

After working for six years as a Systems Engineer with the Department of Defense, I recently decided to switch careers in order to pursue a calling in Medicine. This decision required a return to academia to complete a litany of core science classes required for medical school. Having recently completed these requirements, I would be thrilled to assist students in their journey through these subjects. With the new MCAT format heavily emphasizing Biochemistry, I feel confident that I can help students achieve their maximum potential, having personally scored in the 99th percentile in the Biological and Biochemical Foundations section.

I am currently a senior at Baylor University working towards a degree in health science studies, with a focus in pre-medicine. I am very passionate about the sciences and enjoy tutoring biology, physiology, and anatomy.I am passionate about tutoring because I feel that every student should be able to have access to adequate assistance outside of school. With an increasingly full public school system today in need of some serious reform, I believe that personal and in-group tutoring as supplemental instruction are crucial to allowing students to receive the personalized attention they need for success. Getting help outside of school is one of the first steps to being proactive in a student's academic journey, and improvement as well as new enthusiasm upon gained understanding early on in the academic journey can open doors of opportunity not only to universities and graduate programs, but also inside the mind of the student as growth and steady work ethic can be inspired by a positive learning experience. As a tutor, one has a direct impact on the educational experience of a student, and a positive one can empower and enable students to get help where they need it, as well as the confidence and positive foresight to continue on in time of difficulty. In light of this, I will try my best to make sure that every student I encounter gains an opportunity to have such a positive experience. By providing the right motivation to succeed, and applying materials learned to the real world, I hope to instill in students inspiration to gain knowledge not only for academic success, but to gain insight on the way the world functions around them. Knowledge truly is power, and being a tutor is the perfect way I can spread this power in the ways I can.

I'm a Biology professor with over 20 years of experience in teaching and tutoring. My undergraduate degree is in Zoology, and my Ph.D. in Genetics. I've developed and taught college courses across the Biology curriculum. I also have extensive experience in standardized test preparation. My approach to tutoring is collaborative, personalized, and centered on your goals. I offer focused support as a deeply knowledgeable subject matter expert in a range of scientific disciplines. I can also help you prepare for standardized tests by reviewing content and helping you implement effective test taking strategies. You may also want to work on developing broader academic skills in addition to mastering the subject matter at hand. For example, we might focus on understanding a particular aspect of the circulatory system while at the same time developing skills that allow you to effectively extract meaningful information from a scientific text. This is what I do with my university students every day and I am excited to bring these same strategies to you! Whether you are trying to master a class or prepare for an exam, we will work together to help you meet your learning goals.

I want to be well-rounded in my life. However, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. I could talk about my journey through university, my experiences in the U.S. Air Force, my involvement in various volunteer programs, and my employment, because these have all paved the way for the graduate school admissions process. Mostly, though, you probably want to know whether I can get you the grade you're looking for in your classes, and that's understandable! The principles behind the tutoring process are the most important aspects of tutoring itself, for they enable us to be flexible and adaptable without going off-track. Once you have the basic principles deeply ingrained in your habits, you'll be ready for all kinds of variations. If that is something you want to achieve, then I am here to help, just as I too was once helped. I want to see you master these subjects. Moreover, I want to see you enjoy the process of mastering your studies. My inclination towards tutoring began in high school, when I began receiving help from a friend. Because my tutor was also a peer, I felt less intimidated; I felt at ease to question, to challenge, and to reiterate the concept until I understood it. Conversely, when I had a better understanding of a certain subject area, I found myself giving explanations to my other friends, helping them while reinforcing my own knowledge. I managed to do well throughout my studies. My strength in science and mathematics enable me to fulfill the prerequisites for graduate school in health sciences. Retaining this knowledge will also help serve as the foundation to my future studies. As I've mentioned previously, there was a time when I too needed help to push through the tough parts of my studies. But it was not an aimless effort. I've developed study habits and achievable goals along the way. I believe that in order to gain understanding of a subject, it is essential to have awareness of a principle or concept that can be applied over and over again. Therefore, I want to dedicate time to laying a proper foundation for the delivery of a concept, and for the acceptance and application of that concept. The point is this: you have to be involved and immersed in the process in order for a concept to become your default thought process.Similarly, I always attempted numerous practice questions to make concepts stick. It takes preparation and it takes practice. I did not learn to do the problem by watching someone else solve it for me--I followed the concept and solved it on my own. Karl Marx once said "theory without practice is sterile, and practice without theory is blind." The goal is to eventually put yourself in the driver seat, and to feel comfortable when faced with another problem. My central message is of the utmost simplicity. Unfortunately, simplicity usually comes wrapped in great complexity, just as something very complex is made of simple elements. I hope I can help you become an individual who is not deterred by the problem presented. Rather, you will face the problem with the understanding that you will now be able to break it down into simple questions, even when there's no obvious solution. Not every problem can be or will be solved, but with the correct reasoning and deduction, you can be assured that you will be a step closer towards the answer. Finally, I believe you must find confidence and happiness in anything that you do. I often supplement my study with music or workouts, both of which motivate me to go towards that next challenge in my life. Being persistent in developing your own personal application is the key to retaining knowledge. In essence, all I can do is give you the assistance necessary so that you can learn in your own unique way. I hope you may have gained something by reading over some of these points, and are now ready to find your happiness in the process of learning.

I graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick NJ in 2009 with a BA in Psychology and Biological Sciences. I completed my medical education in December 2014 and will receive my Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) Degree from Ross University in March 2015. I have tutored multiple subjects from High School to Medical School. I tutor Psychology, Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, Algebra, Geometry, among other subject. My favorite subject to tutor are in the science and math fields. I cater my tutoring style to each individual student. Every student is different and learn material differently so as a tutor I must find what works best to teach my students. I believe it is important to stress teaching concepts so that the student is able to learn the material and be confident enough to solve any problem. I also teach proper note taking skills and study methods that can be implemented outside of the classrooms to help maximize learning. One of my biggest motivations for becoming a doctor is my immense desire to help people. Whether I am teaching, listening, problem solving, or just lending a hand, helping others is what I find to be most enjoyable. I believe that helping others gives me a different perspective on life. Since a very young age, I was taught to never deny help to anyone for any reason. I have lived by this ideal my entire life and I will continue to do so throughout my medical career. A number of life events, personal experiences and mission work in different countries solidified my desire to be come a physician.
