As a graduate from the Professional and Technical Writing Program at Chicago State University, I have become an expert in all aspects of writing and English. While at Chicago State University, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in English, with a specialization in Creative Writing. Also, I am expected to graduate in August of 2016 with a PhD in Education and Professional Studies from Capella University. Currently, I hold two state certifications in education: a Language Arts/English teaching license for 5th-12th grade from Indiana and a Substitute Teaching license for K-12th grade students issued by Illinois. I've also successfully passed the Praxis II content area exam for English, Language, and Literature. I have three years of teaching experience, one at the collegiate level and two at the secondary level. I tutor all areas of English and Writing, Social Studies, and Test Preparation. My favorite subject to tutor is Reading. I am intrinsically motivated in my career, and I receive the most satisfaction when students that I serve exhibit growth. Not only do I tutor students, I build confidence in them and motivate them to reach new heights. Students are encouraged to set educational goals, and we execute them together. Outside of work, I am a member of the PhD Sisters Group at Capella University. I enjoy writing poetry, short-stories, and touring the world.
