I am a fourth-year middle and high school math teacher at a private, residential school for at-risk teens. I love giving my students the opportunity to learn and grow their math confidence. I utilize multiple teaching methods to reach student with different learning levels and styles. I believe everyone is capable of doing anything with the right tools and knowledge set. I knew from a young age I wanted to be a teacher and be able to help others reach their educational goals. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology and immediately started working with at-risk adolescents. A few years later, I received my Masters in Teaching degree while teaching full-time. I love forming relationships with my students and watching them grow not only as a student, but as a human being.

I'm currently a fourth year medical student at a private medical school in Texas. I've been involved with tutoring since middle school continuing all the way through medical school. There are so many different ways to teach based on how students learn best and I am passionate about meeting the individual needs of students so they can succeed. I took unconventional approaches to learning as instilled by mentors throughout my life that greatly increased my ability to learn and comprehend material . I've worked with tutoring students in ACT prep, SAT prep, MCAT prep, IB and AP courses, as well as STEM subjects from elementary school through to college. Recently, I've also tutored for USMLE Step 1 & 2. I also edit and work with students who need tutors for writing and reading comprehension. I have extensive experience in both college and medical school admissions and work yearly with students on essays and applications. I went to high school at the Downingtown STEM Academy and graduated May 2018 from the University of Alabama with a 4.2. I have a BS in Biology with minors in Social Work and Social Welfare. I will be graduating with an MD and MPH in May 2022. I tutor english, math, geometry, algebra, SAT, ACT, MCAT, USMLE chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, and writing along with other subjects. I've worked with rural students in Alabama, students in the Greater Philadelphia area, and students in urban areas. I believe education should be personalized and while schools can't provide this due to lack of resources, tutors are a great substitute for that. Education is the gateway to social mobility and happiness and I seek to prepare my student to meet their individual goals. I work to create an environment where the student can focus on understanding the material for their own understanding and not for others which significantly increases the students confidence in the subject matter and their desire to learn more.

I recently graduated from Temple University where I received a BA in religion, and where I also studied cultural and linguistic anthropology. I have found myself especially fascinated by early Indian Buddhism, and my studies have allowed me to travel to India where I lived in a monastery and studied Buddhist pilgrims' use of Pali (an ancient "dead" language) in their religious practice. I have spent a hefty chunk of my life in school, and so have had a lot of time to think about education and why it can be important. A person can accomplish little without knowledge, and I don't just mean developing the theory of relativity, cracking Egyptian hieroglyphics, or other similarly game-changing feats by brilliant people. We use our knowledge every day to act constructively and cohesively within our society and our environment. The quest for knowledge, then, is one of the most universally important pursuits available to us humans. I have been fortunate enough to contribute to that pursuit for several months now as an SAT and ACT prep tutor, helping students cope with these formidable tests and earn the scores they need to continue their individual quests for knowledge (and, of course, employment) into post-secondary education. I believe that education is an act of sharing knowledge between student and teacher, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge about religion, language, and college entrance exams with you and to letting you share your knowledge with me. But when I'm not sharing or being shared with, I'll be playing drums with several bands in the Philadelphia area and memorizing soliloquies from Shakespeare for the fun of it.

I am a student of Western Governors University. I am studying to become a Secondary Mathematics Teacher. It is my mission in life to help students understand math. Math has come to me easily since I was a little girl and I was intrigued at how others may not comprehend it. I have spent the last 10 years studying and observing how different individuals grasp concepts differently. I have decided to become a math teacher so I can magnify this fact that students learn differently so I can make sure each student has an equal opportunity to learn math and succeed in their academic endeavors.

Hello! My name is Fatoumata Sylla and I'm excited to embark on this tutoring journey with you! I have years of experience tutoring and absolutely love working with students. A bit about me,Im a first year medical student at a top 20 medical school in the United States. I also went to a women's college in PA where I majored in religion and neuroscience. As for my tutoring background, it's quite extensive. I worked as a quantitative tutor, a writing tutor, and a French tutor while in undergrad. Although I no longer tutor math, I do love to work with students who want to improve their writing or conversational French. In the past, I've worked with students ranging from 13-55 y/o! I like to work with each student to establish a personalized learning plan. I know no two students are the same so this approach allows us to customize my teaching to the students learning style while also maximizing our time together. In addition to tutoring French and anything writing & literature related, I also tutor MCAT biology and MCAT CARS. I am a 1x MCAT taker and I scored a 130 and 131 in these subjects respectively. I am also happy and willing to work with students on the following:- Grad school personal statements- medical school secondaries- Medical school interviewsAs for my teaching style, I love to collaborate with my students and I rarely do the standard lecture style. I'm very activities based and will try to bring my own activities ( in addition to using the material provided by the student) whenever possible.I look forward to working with you to achieve all of your educational goals!

I was an academic late bloomer. I struggled in my initial years of college and took some time off. When I returned, I was able to complete and Associates degree, then a Bachelor of Science and later a Master of Arts. Academic studies did not come easy to me, so I developed new skills and strategies to help me learn and master the necessary material. I worked for 11 years as an Engineer and for the last 19 years I have been a missionary. As a missionary, I have taught on various levels, in various contexts and in various languages. I have homeschooled my own kids, taught other kids in primary school and high school. I have also taught adult school English as a second language and at the university undergraduate level in English and in Russian. I have, in addition, occasionally taught on a graduate level. I have experience with all kinds of learners and the challenges they face. As I get to know students, I try to adjust my approach to provide a combination of teaching content along with personalized strategies to master the material. Especially with younger students, I like to include humor and stories in the learning process in an attempt to make the material as practical as possible. I am happy to help in any way I can.
