I am a recent graduate of Washington and Jefferson College. I received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and my Bachelor of Arts in History. Over my four years in college, I traveled to many different countries, including Scotland and Greece, studying abroad and gaining new experiences. Although I have studied many topics, my passion lies in sustainability and ancient history. I spend my time learning mythology, folklore, religion, and LGBTQ+ history. Throughout college, I acted as a tutor to my peers and mentees to help with history courses, such as World Environmental History, Soviet Culture, and Global Buddhism. I believe that education is a right, not a privilege, and I work tirelessly to ensure that all of my students are taken care of. In my free time, I love to roller skate, read, and go to the beach with my partner.

During my undergraduate tenure I had the opportunity to participate in the Honors program, which focused on the study of Classic Western Literature. I got my CELTA (an English as a Second/Foreign Language teaching certificate) in Dublin, Ireland and earned a certificate to teach Spanish as a Foreign Language from la Universidad de Antioquia, in Medellin, Colombia. My tutoring experience has mostly been working with students in Colombia who are looking to improve their English language skills, anything from conversation to writing. The students range from beginners to people who are preparing for exams such as the TOEFL and IELTS. I tutor both English and Spanish. I really have a passion for languages and language learning, as I feel it opens up a new world for the learner. And sharing that experience as an educator opens my world to new ways of thinking and experiences. I can relate to language learners as I spent 5 years in Colombia learning and perfecting my own level of Spanish, while teaching English there. I think that people learn best when they are engaged in the language and relate personally to the material. Bringing language to life by using all five senses is critical to the learning experience. Outside of academia I like to do things that stimulate other areas of personal growth. For instance; I love traveling, especially abroad, and photography. Both of those allow me to engage with new places and people and take everything in. I also like to read and listen to music in Spanish and other languages, too! In my spare time, I follow the Red Sox and Patriots during their respective seasons.

I recently graduated from the University of South Carolina's Honors College and earned a BA in Criminal Justice and a BS in Mathematics. I will be going back to USC in August to get my Master's of Teaching in Secondary Education - Mathematics. I absolutely love tutoring and teaching. Math is a hard subject and it is vital to have someone there who cares about you and helps you achieve your academic goals. I have been tutoring for the past two years both at tutoring firm and freelance work. Specifically, I have been working with two middle school boys for two years covering pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. At my tutoring firm, I have tutored every age and subject from fifth grade to 12th grade calculus, as well as ACT and SAT test prep. I primarily enjoy tutoring Algebra since it is so necessary for a strong mathematical foundation. I also enjoy tutoring geometry and AP Calculus.

I have had the wonderful opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally, which has given me the ability to interact with people from many different walks of life. During High School and College, I tutored my peers in a range of subjects including SAT prep, English, Math, Biology, and Chemistry. I am most passionate about Life Sciences. However, I'm a stickler for proper grammar which is very suitable when it comes to helping students with their SAT prep or English studies. I attended St. George's University School of Veterinary medicine. While matriculating there, I led a large study group and tutored students on a one on one basis. I found the experience so rewarding that it served as an impetus for me to continue teaching. I received a B.S. Biological Sciences for the University of Rhode Island. Afterwards, I worked at the Department of Infectious Disease at Tufts University doing research on zoonotic parasites. My primary areas of interest are Biology and Physiology. I am currently also getting my teaching certification in both subjects here in Massachusetts.My primary objective as a tutor is to help students make sense of difficult material. I truly believe that every student has the ability to thrive if the subject matter in presented in the right way.In my spare time, I enjoy staying active whether it be playing tennis or just going for a jog. My true passion is ecotourism. If it has great scuba diving and rainforests, then it's probably on my bucket list.

I graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry. While pursing my degree, I joined a molecular engineering laboratory at The University of Chicago and worked there for two years. That lab specializes in making biomaterials for cancer therapeutics and water purification membranes. Currently I work at MIT in the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. My current project is focused on developing immunotherapies to treat early stage tumors. Both in the classroom and in lab, I have always been more than willing to help others with their assignments or troubleshooting an equipment problem. On top of my scientific pursuits, I have immersed myself in the worlds of classical Latin and Spanish. The beauty of language and its power are so wonderful. I am extremely passionate about biology, chemistry, math, and language. I have learned a great deal thus far, and really want to help others along their learning journeys! I firmly believe that with the proper guidance, we all possess the abilities to grasp and master complex topics such as calculus, chemistry, and Latin! During my free time, (outside of the laboratory) I enjoy reading and writing poetry, running, and nature.

After high school, I studied Economics and Business Management at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I spent a couple years in the corporate world as a business consultant in Minneapolis and just moved to Massachusetts with my husband. Decided to work as a freelance tutor and photographer, which I'm very excited about! I do have teaching experience with students ages 7 to 21, and I love working with students who are willing to learn!
