ACT Prep Tutor • +25 Subjects

I am an undergraduate at Rice University, and my favorite subjects to tutor are math and science. I also enjoy doing test prep, and my experience comes from helping fellow students in high school. One of the most important aspects of tutoring is fitting the teaching style to each student. One method that works great for one student may not work well for another. Tutoring is all about coming up with different ways for my students to understand the material. If my student is not interested in the subject we are learning, I will try to find a way to tie in their interests and passions into the subject to better engage them. I want to be there for my students, not only as a tutor, but also as a friend. In addition to my interests in math and science (and learning in general), I enjoy swimming, biking, reading, and cooking. I also believe that fostering curiosity and determination are the keys to success.

Jacob

Algebra Tutor • +13 Subjects

Hi, I'm Jacob I am a high school math teacher 3 years of classroom experience and a passion for helping students understand the why behind the math. I hold a Bachelor's in Mathematics Education which I earned through having the opportunity to teaching College Algebra at Purdue along with taking math classes up to Abstract Algebra.n the summer of 2025, I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Math and STEM Education from Purdue University. I believe true learning comes from understanding, not memorization. That's why having a tutor who knows math is valuable, but having one who knows how to teach math makes all the difference.

MBLEX - Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination Tutor • +1 Subjects

Hello! My name is Victoria! I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to help you in your massage career! You've chosen a great career that is equally rewarding as it is challenging. I will work hard to ensure you are ready for the MBLEX and give you confidence in the tools you need to be successful in your chosen career. I have tutored students in my massage class as well as other students who struggled to pass the MBLEX. I have a way of helping others remember important information instead of a pump and dump system where information is quickly obtained but released once it is no longer needed. The disadvantage to that method of learning is you'll be in a situation with a client and you do not remember the details of a specific muscle. The lack of information or the inability to recall the information could potentially delay healing for your client and put yourself in a situation you may not be equipped to properly handle.

Accounting Tutor • +13 Subjects

Along with my CPA, I have a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in General Business, both obtained from Texas A and M University - Commerce. With more than 20 years of experience in accounting working for multi-billion dollar companies, I've gained exposure to the many facets of accounting. As such, I enjoy teaching others the things I have learned. My philosophy around education and learning is simple. I believe every situation, even the unpleasant ones, is an opportunity to learn something new. Learning gives you the platform to go beyond what you ever thought you could. Therefore, I take my responsibility to help others on their academic journey very seriously.Toward that end, actively listening, being flexible in my approach to meeting each student's needs, and being patient with those that learn differently are all part of my repertoire. In education, there is no one size fits all and understanding that allows me to approach tutoring in a way that one size fits many.

Algebra Tutor • +29 Subjects

I am a fourth year medical student currently studying in Houston. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Neurobiology from UT Austin. I have extensive experience in teaching throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate career. During undergrad and medical school, I served as a peer educator teaching biology and anatomy and physiology. After undergrad, I spent one year working as a teaching assistant at a high school, assisting at-risk, ELL, and special needs students with the understanding of Biology. It was one of my most gratifying experiences thus far, as I witnessed my students' progress and how their passion for science and confidence in their own abilities develop hand in hand. I also tutored students one-on-one in preparation for the Biology STAAR retake tests. I feel that recognizing an individual's learning style and adapting my methods of teaching is the key to getting the information across. I understand subjects best when I am truly interested and passionate about it. So, I try to teach my students with that same passion in hopes that I might ignite them not only to absorb the material we are currently studying but to become proactive and go above and beyond the texts. If you haven't guessed already by my choice of major and experience, I LOVE Biology! In addition, I tutor in a wide variety of subjects, including SAT Math, Algebra I & 2, Pre Calc, Physics, Chemistry, and advanced college level sciences. I am also a fervent linguist. I wish to learn as many languages as I can in my lifetime. So far, I am fluent in English and Hindi, hold a strong command of Latin 1 and 2, and an advanced level of fluency in Korean 1 and 2. Outside of academia, I thoroughly enjoy cycling, camping, hiking, and amateur photography. It would be my utmost pleasure to be your tutor and I will work with you to determine what is most suitable for your learning.
