I have been tutoring and teaching English and Spanish for the past five years. When it comes to tutoring and teaching, I believe that attentiveness is extremely important. With my students, I always make a conscious effort to closely monitor their strengths, weaknesses, mistakes, and progress. By knowing your student, it allows the teacher to effectively form a curriculum, as well as monitor progress in an efficient and effective manner. I love teaching, and I love seeing the improvement and progress of my students just as much.

I am an English teacher in Round Rock, Texas for students from grades 6-AP. My passion for teaching is rooted in my interest in my students and my desire to invest in them. In May 2017, I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Biola University as well as a California Single Subject English Credential and Texas English Credential. These programs and my work in the classroom have been meaningful experiences for me to develop my skills as an educator. I appreciate the need to address my students' according to their specific needs and capabilities. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is adapting instruction to suit the students I am working with, so that I get to see the moment when lessons "click" for them.

With experience working with young elementary students, high school students, college applicants, and college students, I bring an eagerness to adapt my guidance to each individual. As a tutor, I am excited to tailor each and every session to a particular student's needs and preferred method of learning.

I am a student at the University of Delaware majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language and a minor in Disability Studies. Prior to college, I tutored 3rd graders of varying socioeconomic backgrounds in ELA and math. For five years, I led whole-class and one-on-one lessons for 4th and 5th graders at my local synagogue. During the summers, I've been a camp counselor for kindergarteners, 1st graders, and 2nd graders. I have also tutored middle school students in math and ELA. While I can tutor a broad range of subjects for elementary school students, I have the most experience with reading, writing, and math. Math can be a difficult subject for many students, but it is fun to work together to develop new skills and work our way through problems. I believe every student deserves to learn in a way that is right for them, and I try to work with students to find out how they learn best. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano and guitar and painting.

I graduated from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas with a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering. I earned my Bachelor of Science at Colorado State University in Chemical Engineering with minors in Mathematics and History. Im passionate about learning and while I enjoyed working on my research, part of my responsibilities included teaching students. One of my favorite classes to teach was an Introduction to Mechanical Engineering where we used Lego Mindstorms to build robots. I tutor a wide range of subjects in math and science. What I love about math is that once youre able to gain a basic understanding of the principles, you can learn to apply them to more complex problems. Theres no better feeling than the absolute certainty of understanding a problem all the way through, and I enjoy helping students come to that same realization. I like to have a whiteboard or lots of paper to work out problems because in my mind, its important to play around with the problem in order to best understand it. In my spare time, I love reading science fiction and fantasy novels, writing fiction and playing volleyball.

I graduated with my Associate in Science from Houston Community College and I am currently going to Unity College for my B.S. in Marine Biology. I currently work as an ESL para for 7th and 8th graders. I will be tutoring all math and reading up until high school. I personally love tutoring math more because even though it can be a tricky subject but I am known for looking at problems through a new angle and try and creating new ways on how to solve the problem.

The seeds sown today are harvested the next season. Attempting to satisfy instant gratification only results in under ripe and immature fruit. This is my life motto and has served me well. I have taught many different age groups during my past years in high school. I used to be a teacher assistant at Sunday School, I tutored middle school students in English and Math, and I assisted other high school students study for standardized tests at my local test prep school. During my many experiences teaching and tutoring children and students younger than me, I have found that many of them still try to achieve instant gratification through their studies, although that is simply not possible. I aim to avoid teaching "plug-n-chug" methods to solve problems, but help my students understand the underlying concepts so that they can become more versatile and proficient in that subject. This is much more time-consuming and difficult on both the tutor and the student, but it is likewise much more rewarding and lasting.

I am honored to be a teacher and help make positive changes in children's lives! I have been lucky enough to pursue my dream of teaching children for the last six years, including recently graduating with my Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. I love fulfilling my passion of being a lifelong learner by continuing my education and pursing new learning opportunities! I have been a middle school social studies teacher for the past five years, and I have experience teaching high school social studies and a multitude of grades levels and subjects at the elementary level as well.
