I received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota in 2011 and my Master's in 2013, both in Aerospace Engineering & Mechanics. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant at University of Minnesota, I taught groups of students in the laboratory sessions for courses in the Aerospace Engineering Department, including Experimental Methods, Instrumentation, and Aeroelasticty. The most important aspect of my teaching style is demonstrating patience and commitment to the student. I want the student to feel comfortable communicating with me what they are struggling with so I can understand what his or her strengths and weaknesses are. This allows me to tailor my lessons to the students needs and teach more effectively, by "speaking their language". I make it my goal to learn from the student about their learning style so I can teach them how to succeed. I tutor science, engineering, and mathematics, including calculus, algebra, and geometry. My favorite subjects to teach are math and physics. In my free time I like playing drums and listening to music (rock, jazz, electronic mostly) and when I can, traveling and learning about foreign cultures.

I am a recent graduate of Stony Brook University (SUNY) from where I received my Bachelor of Sciences in Applied Mathematics & Statistics with a concentration in Physical Sciences. Throughout my undergraduate career, I was fortunate enough to participate in several research-oriented internships in New York and Maryland. These allowed me to gain invaluable experience and apply my knowledge to real-life applications. In addition, I have experience tutoring fellow classmates in courses such as physics, probability/statistics, and linear algebra; however, my favorite subject to teach is calculus and I've found it to be the most challenging to learn. My philosophy of teaching heavily focuses on practice problems and examples while maintaining a personable, stress-free environment. I am a current student at Barnard College, Columbia University. I am on the pre-med track with a major in biology. I am also interested in economics and American history. I began tutoring as a middle school student and haven't stopped, continuing into my high school years, year abroad and college. In addition to my passion for sailing, I am an avid skier and outdoorswoman, and a passionate fan of Boston sports. I also offer and enjoy test prep, including the SAT and independent school entrance exams such as the ISEE and SSAT. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English as a Second Language from Northern Arizona University. I was a teacher for 13 years in the SUSD school district where I taught grades 2-4. During the summers I worked with talented youth by teaching a pre-algebra course to 4th graders at Arizona State University. Throughout my career I have taught an array of learners and have developed many skills to meet individual needs. Throughout my teaching career to now, I have coached volleyball. I have coached at a variety of levels and age groups ranging from 11yrs-18yrs. I have a great passion for helping students succeed and have the patience and creative skill-set to make that happen. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, riding my bicycle with friends, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

I'm a graduate of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where I completed my B.S. in Biology (your typical pre-med!). Currently, I'm a 3rd year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch. I have tutored various high school and college level subjects in the past, both formally as a private tutor and informally as a peer and friend, and will be tutoring 1st and 2nd year medical students this upcoming academic year.
