Hello! I'm a educator and visual artist with many years of experience teaching and tutoring high school and college students. I have a BA in Political Science from New College of Florida and a MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. While I'm a photographer by trade, I also have a passion for and expertise in Math and the Natural Sciences -- as well as French and Spanish, having studied and worked in both Paris and Central America. While I'm proficient now, I struggled with both languages early on, and understand the challenges of both starting a new language and in moving from a conversational to a more proficient level. I'm also available for ACT and SAT test prep -- and work especially well with students who are visual learners (though I have a wide range of materials and resources for all styles of learning!).

I'm currently a freshman at Rice University studying applied math. I've always had a love for sharing knowledge with others, and I started tutoring when I was a junior in high school. As a former AP student and a National AP Scholar, I have the experience necessary to guide my students through challenging curriculum. Though I specialize in tutoring mathematics and physics, I am experienced with and am happy to tutor a broad range of subjects.For me, the learning experience is all about the relationship between the instructor and the learner; in my experience, educators who can't convey the excitement behind a given topic often leave their students behind. I firmly believe that once you get excited about learning something and seriously take ownership of that process, the knowledge and material will follow. In that sense, my job is to get you excited about learning!

I have a Bachelors Degree in Hispanic Literature and a minor in Theatre from the University of Puerto Rico, Ro Piedras Campus.I am working in my Masters Degree which is in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Spanish from the University of Puerto Rico as well.I am a certified Distance Professor (Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico).I have worked as a High School Spanish/ Theater teacher in private and public schools. I also have worked with Pearson Educational.The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does not mean that he or she can make the profile, can shape the students. I am a prospective Computer Science major from Austin, Texas, currently in the summer before my senior year at the University of Houston. During my undergraduate career so far I have taken to tutoring as a way to give back to my school's community, and I've decided to expand my horizons and help more people by coming here. While I tutor a range of subjects, I am at my best tutoring Computer Science and Computer Programming, with Math and Science-based subjects not too far behind. I prefer to give my students the big picture concepts at play in whatever field I'm guiding them though, so that they can discover the solutions to their problems and be prepared to use the same concepts again in the future.

I am a graduate of the University of the State of New York. I received my Master's Degree in Elementary Education and I have been teaching for 22 years. My teaching experience ranges from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. I taught middle school for 5 years, Kindergarten for 8 years, have been teaching Pre-Kindergarten for 9 years. I also teach summer school every year and the grades have ranged from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I believe that teaching and learning should incorporate elements of fun. It is through the fun and engagement that the children learn best. I absolutely love when I can see in a child's face that the knowledge has been gained. I am a firm believer in life-long learning. I never admit to knowing everything and will help a child to find an answer if I am unable to do so. This shows my students that I am also human. Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, kayaking, swimming, cake decorating, and drawing/painting.

I am a graduate of Bradley University where I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology (minor in English Literature). I also have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Chicago. I have worked with students in a variety of settings (both in-person and virtual) including serving as a Corps member with Illinois Student Assistance Commission where I helped students navigate the college admission process. My current role is in career advising at Northwestern University where I advise undergrad students in resume writing, cover letter writing and other job application steps. My education and experience have prepared me to advise in a variety of subject areas including English, Psychology, Clinical Mental Health, Literature, writing skills and college/career advising. I believe in helping students identify their strengths and to empower anyone I work with to recognize what they're already doing right in their academic journey so that we can better identify new areas to work on. In my free time, I enjoy theater, my SPENGA workout classes and trying new coffee shops and restaurants.

I especially like technical math because it relates to engineering (i.e. the real world). I can also tutor logic and physics. I am passionate about helping students because it is rewarding and it is what I do best.I believe that to learn something well enough to draw from this knowledge when it is needed, all relevant vocabulary and equations must be thoroughly understood. Formulas that are memorized without understanding where they come from are soon forgotten. I balance this tedium with jokes and funny faces to make my students laugh.I have found that each individual's impediments to learning can be very different. I use compassion and dialogue to uncover the causes of anxiety or helplessness technical subjects can engender.My bachelor's degree is from UCLA, where I studied math and physics. My Master's degree is from Arizona State University where I studied logic and philosophy. During the lockdown I became interested in machine learning and data sciences in general. I hope to earn a degree or certificate in a data related field.
