I am currently a sophomore at Yale University majoring in Neuroscience. For all of my time during high school and college so far, I have been passionate about tutoring. In high school, I worked at Mathnasium, a math tutoring center, and have had extensive experience working with students in elementary, middle, and high school. Everyone learns differently, and I have to be perceptive enough to assess what they need. The same method won't work for every student, but I've developed a vault of techniques to use for every skill that I teach, so if they aren't getting it, I just start up a new way of teaching. Currently, I am a chemistry tutor on campus. The most rewarding part of tutoring is seeing when the students truly understand a concept. You can physically see their thought process, the gears grinding in their head, and, when it all clicks, their eyes light up. In my free time, I am a part of an a cappella group on campus and I volunteer with Yale Children's Theater to organize theater workshops for local elementary school students.

I am an undergraduate student at Purdue University studying special education. For all four years of high school, I worked with special needs students in an adaptive P.E. class. I have also been an unofficial tutor for many of my friends, fellow classmates, and siblings over the years. I can tutor a wide range of ages and subjects, but I am most passionate about reading, math, and ASL (American Sign Language). I have already taken multiple courses on how to teach elementary/middle school math and reading effectively, and have done very well. My teaching philosophy is to view students as individuals with their own goals and styles of learning. I emphasize the importance of understanding students on an individual basis and adapting my approach to fit their needs. My work in the special education field has taught me that flexibility and patience are key when working with students. In my spare time, I enjoy playing piano and ukulele, cooking, and practicing digital art on my iPad. I am experienced teaching elementary school reading (particularly phonics, sight words, etc)

I am a rising sophomore at Harvard College and am about to declare as a Mechanical Engineering concentrator, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree. I've always enjoyed sharing my knowledge with my peers and those around me and have done so in both formal and informal settings. I've been a tutor for both Math and Spanish programs in high school and enjoyed the strides I made with students. I am willing to tutor any subject I have a background in, but am strong in mathematics, the sciences, Spanish, history, writing, and ACT prep. I enjoy teaching mathematics most due to the joy I can see in children once they master a topic and can answer even pointed questions meant to stump them, and maybe even put their knowledge to real world use. As a tutor, I like to give a strong foundation to orient my student, and then gradually grant them more freedom and independence until they can feel themselves grasp the concept, pointing out pitfalls or common errors along the way; teachers who used these methods on me always left the most lasting impressions. Outside of my studies, I really enjoy listening to music, both old favorites and new interests, reading classics, and gaming/playing basketball with my friends.

I am exploring my creativity by pursuing a double major in Asian Languages and Cultures with a focus in Korean, studying abroad in South Korea as a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholar, leading workshops that teach 3D printing and CAD for undergraduate students as the president of 3D4E, advocating for the first-generation and low-income student community as the Outreach Chair of the Quest+ Scholars Network, and getting involved with the Society of Women Engineers' outreach committee. I currently hold a work-study position as an administrative clerical aide in the Institute of Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern and was an undergraduate researcher in the John Rogers Lab. As I look forward with aspirations of applying to graduate school, areas of research in biomedical engineering and biotechnology that I am particularly interested in include biomaterials, pharmaceuticals, and drug delivery systems. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy learning on my own and sharing my experience and knowledge with my peers and other students. I hope to make use of my experiences with academics and learning in high school and so far in my undergraduate career in order to effectively tutor students who may be experiencing the same struggles in learning that I also experienced.

I am a graduate of the University of Chicago where I received my undergraduate degree in political science. Right after graduation, I worked as an academic and test prep tutor as well as admissions consultant in Hong Kong. For the past two years, I worked with a number of students to help prepare them for college in the United States.

I am a life-long proponent of education and learning. I graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in philosophy. After working for a few years, including in book publishing, I returned to school and completed my M.A. in history at the University of California, Berkeley. While there, I taught history and philosophy classes to undergraduates. I also taught Standardized Test Prep (SAT and GRE) for Summit Tutors and Kaplan.

I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.

I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.

I am taking time to explore my lifelong interest in teaching. I began tutoring at the University of Notre Dame, where I worked for three years as a teaching assistant in a Cell Biology laboratory course. There, I enjoyed helping my peers understand the larger picture developing through our weekly experiments. At Loyola University Chicago, I continued to tutor a variety of subjects while earning a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences.

I am a licensed attorney in Illinois who primarily represents children in guardianship disputes as the Guardian ad Litem as well as low-income clients in a myriad of housing and family law related cases. I graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Philosophy in 2009. In May of 2014, I received my JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. I tutor Reading, Writing, History, Public Speaking, Standardized Test Prep, and am available to help with the college application process. Prior to law school, I assisted in the developing of curriculum for a homework help program at a community center in Chicago. I have always been passionate about how to best share and communicate ideas, whether written or spoken. My method for tutoring involves sharing this passion with students to better help them hone and express their own opinions.

I'm referring to math, of course, but I didn't always like the subject. Until about age 16, I thought of math as a boring, mind-numbing process of blindly memorizing formulas and then forgetting them after the test, but a series of wonderful teachers showed me the truth. I had thought that everything in math was invented arbitrarily just to torture students, but actually it all made sense in a deep way. When I caught a glimpse of what math really was, I found it irresistible and I ended up majoring in math in college at UChicago. I'm currently a Master's student in Computer Science at NYU.
