I am a neuroscience and psychology double major from CU Boulder working to go to PA school down the road. I am originally from the East coast, but definitely prefer the hiking here. I was a learning assistant (basically student focused teacher aid) at CU, and took a course to learn more effective pedagogy. Afterwards, I was asked to be a mentor, and continued trying to help as much as I can.

I am currently pursuing my PhD in Literature/Creative Writing at the University of Denver. Prior to beginning my doctoral studies, I was a creative writing/English lecturer at Washington University in St. Louis where I completed my MFA and senior post-graduate teaching fellowship. I received my BA in Philosophy from Carleton College in 2009. Before my time in St. Louis and Denver, I taught English Literature at the Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut and, earlier, at Germantown High School in Philadelphia. During my time at Loomis and Germantown, I taught English Lit I/III, Contemporary Literature, 10th grade grammar and expository writing seminars, Literature of the Sea, Experimental Novel, and Creative Writing. At Wash U, I taught Fiction Writing I, II, and Microfiction, and last year I facilitated pedagogy training for Wash U MFA graduate students. I currently tutor at DU's Writing Center and, beginning this fall, I will teach undergraduate fiction classes. I have a marked interest in modern and contemporary fiction, though I very much look forward to helping students with all craft/literature/essay writing/verbal test taking endeavors. I am an Elementary Education Major currently studying at the University of Oklahoma. I tutor elementary and middle school math and English. I have nannied and tutored the last couple years to kids aged 6-9, but have taught after school programs and summer camps ages 5-13. Before attending OU, I was a theatre and dance major at Denver School of the Arts. In my spare time, I love reading, yoga, and movies with friends!

I am a native Mandarin speaker, and I got both MD and PhD degree from one of the top 20 universities in China. I've also passed the "national proficiency test of mandarin" when I was in college. Teaching and researching the difference between Chinese and English have always been my passion. Before "varsity tutors", I have tutored five English-speaking students from ages 6 to 20. I tailor my classes to different students' needs, and I enjoy writing my own "Chinese grammar and practice" book based on different levels. I am a super responsible and hard-working person. My goal is to help my students to learn the most with the least number of classes, and to make sure my students couldn't be more satisfied with me.

I am a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry as well as MCD (Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental) Biology while minoring in Chemistry in 2015. I love exploring all of the cool things that this world has to offer. By dabbling in a little of everything I can set my sights on what really holds my attention. My primary interests lie in the sciences, where learning what makes our world turn drives my passion for knowledge.

I am currently a Masters student in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism at Naropa University in Boulder, CO. Previously, I had attended the Colorado School of Mines earning a bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics. I aspire to become a professor of Buddhist philosophy integrating contemplative studies with rigorous scientific and formal logics. Apart from scholastic endeavors, I spend much of my time wandering the Colorado mountains, practicing the piano, and studying the world around me.

I am a licensed high school history teacher, but have worked with 2-year-olds, college undergraduates, and every age in between. I have previously tutored preschoolers through high schoolers in math and reading, and worked at a university in Santiago with Chilean undergraduates studying both English as a second language and the teaching of English. I am most passionate about teaching in the humanities, but find that working with students on any subject is fulfilling, including standardized test prep. Having lived abroad in Spain and Chile, I also know the importance of connecting classroom learning in Spanish to the actual experience of the language and am always excited to help Spanish come alive beyond conjugation worksheets. Regardless of subject, I strive to ensure that my students build the strategies and confidence they need to be capable, self-directed learners. My own interests include reading, camping and hiking, cooking, and rugby.

I am a graduate of Arizona State University. I received my two Bachelors of Science degrees in Biological Sciences (Animal Physiology and Behavior) and Political Sciences with a certificate in Civic Education. Since graduating, I have started working with the Denver Math Fellows helping close the opportunity gap for high need students by providing small group math instruction. I find the most excitement in tutoring middle school math and science, Algebra I, and General Biology. I find that for most students what makes any subject hard is being unable to use what you already know and not knowing how to tackle the subject. I want to help students by giving them multiple access points and allowing them to access whatever content they desire at their current level. I believe the most important way to help students learn in is to relate content to their current interests and future goals. In my spare time, I enjoy reading non-fiction about technology and neurobiology, hiking, watching sports (mainly football and basketball) and listening to jazz and classical music.
