I'm Elena. I'm an experienced teacher/tutor of chemistry and biology. I hold a Master degree in Science education and PhD in organic chemistry.

I am a graduate of The University of Northern Colorado where I earned my BSN and a Master's in nursing education. I received a second Master's in Nursing with a focus in Nurse Midwifery. Since graduation, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and spent 13 years as a Senior Instructor at the University of Colorado of Nursing. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, gardening and family time.

I am comfortable teaching are mathematics, chemistry and Spanish. Out of these subjects mathematics is my favorite to teach because of the logic found in the subject. I find it fascinating how, in mathematics, topics work towards a unifying theme.

I am a native Mandarin speaker, and I got both MD and PhD degree from one of the top 20 universities in China. I've also passed the "national proficiency test of mandarin" when I was in college. I am quite passionate about education, since I feel it is the key to any sort of satisfying life. As the saying goes, knowledge is power, and knowledge can give you comfort and help guide you through a world that is often frustrating, convoluted, and dissatisfying. I have channeled this passion into teaching astronomy, which I majored in. I also taught some history and religion topics as head of a secular club in college.

I am an experienced math teachers. I taught for 29 years in public middle schools, and high schools and I retired this year. I love working with kids and helping them build confidence in themselves and their ability to do math.
