I am a graduate of Columbia University with a B.S. in Biochemistry. I have always found science to be interesting and a compelling field of study, especially as it relates to the human body and condition. In the past I have tutored college students in Organic Chemistry, which is widely regarded as one of the most difficult premedical requirements. My expertise is in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as it pertains to premedical and science degrees. I also am well versed in Mathematics at the High School and College level. I try to teach my students not only how to solve problems in a systematic fashion, but also how to use logic and deduction to solve difficult questions which they have not previously seen. I believe that these skills are critical for future scientists and physicians. In my spare time I play guitar in a band, build and work with personal computers, and snowboard.

I graduated from MIT with a Bachelor's degree in Physics.I believe the most important skill for a tutor is to adapt teaching style to the specific strengths and weaknesses of the student. My in-depth knowledge and experience with improvisation allow me to flexibly change problem solving approaches based on what the student needs. I am focused on engaging everyone I work with and am keenly attuned to whether people are truly following along. As an actor and director with a degree in science, I am equally at home with "science-y" and "arts-y" students. I am there to help foster a love for learning regardless of how much the student may or may not love the subject beforehand.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved learning new things and sharing this knowledge with others. Nothing beats the feeling of demystifying a difficult concept for someone and witnessing their "aha!" moment. Over the course of my academic career, I grew to really enjoy the STEM subjects, and I was always happy to take the time (often quite a bit!) to help my peers when they were having trouble with their homework or didn't understand the way the teacher explained something. These impromptu sit-downs ultimately evolved into formal tutoring sessions, and over the years, I've served as a private tutor for a number of students in math and science.I graduated from Cooper Union with a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical engineering in 2010. Since then, I've been working as a software engineer; this experience has fueled my enthusiasm for tutoring computer science. I'm also passionate about tutoring calculus and physics so that I can help assuage the extreme (and, in my opinion, undeserved) fear that students often have of these subjects. Despite their intimidating reputations, each of these subjects is built on a foundation of only a few simple (and largely intuitive) ideasthe difficulty comes when these concepts are combined and applied in creative ways. Accordingly, my tutoring style is to cut through the complexity by repeatedly breaking things down into smaller and simpler pieces until they are understood.

I am a graduate from North Carolina State University with a BS in Animal Science. I have been a tutor for 7 years at the elementary school, middle school, high school and college level. During my undergraduate career, I became a Master Level III Tutor under the CRLA's Tutoring Program. I am a dedicated, hard working individual who strives to see improvement and success in those who I am tutoring. At the end of each tutoring session, my goal is for the student to develop a better understanding for the material. Many students focus on getting answers correct or ways to memorize tricks on how to solve certain problems. During my tutoring sessions, I work with students to develop an understanding for the material by utilizing their resources so that they can perform well when tested on the information. In addition to tutoring and helping others, I enjoy running, practicing yoga, hiking with my dog, reading and shopping. I am looking forward to working with you and aiding you in finding success in your studies!

I began my career in diagnostic imaging, graduating from Mount Sinai School of Radiologic Technology in 1974. I worked in various areas, including interventional radiography, mammography, general radiography and fluoroscopy. Sonography became available for clinical use a few years later and I began training in that imaging modality as well.Throughout the years I worked at various clinical settings, hospitals, clinics, private medical offices. Each of these locations hosted diagnostic imaging students and throughout the years I was happy to mentor these students. I was happy to share my knowledge and experience with them to guide them on their way to becoming successful technologists.Later, I enrolled in the University of Hartford and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Advanced Medical Imaging. I then began teaching in the Radiography and Sonography programs at this institution, as well as Manchester Community College.I am passionate about helping students learn, not memorize, content so that they become true health professionals. I enjoy sharing my experience with students new to the field of Sonography and I take pride in teaching them to become knowledgeable and competent technologists, guiding them on their way to a rewarding career.

I pursued, what many would consider, a very non-traditional path following graduation from a high school for gifted students. My initial training was received while on active duty with the US Navy. There I learned to operate, maintain, and repair advanced electronic systems such as radio, radar, computers and cryptographic machines. Later during this period of my life, I went to school to learn Nuclear Power Plant Operation for nuclear submarines. While serving aboard various submarines, I took college courses through the University of Hawaii and the University of California. I also spent a great deal of time reading literary classics, as well as books on history, science, music and art. This reading allowed me to successfully complete the entire CLEP examination with scores in the top 10%.Following my discharge, I earned licenses and certifications from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as both an Operator and Senior Operator on several different types of nuclear units. Based on my previous work, training and college classes, I was awarded a Baccalaureate in Nuclear Engineering Technology in 1988 from Charter Oak College. l also attended college classes at the University of New Haven during this time, earning a Baccalaureate in Electrical Engineering in 1989 with a minor in Mathematics. I also have taken advanced graduate course in Business Administration and Regulatory Law as well as having successfully completed the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT exams.Starting in 1981, I provided training to selected individuals to prepare them for their Nuclear Regulatory Operator Examination. In this position, I delivered classroom and individualized instruction on math, physics, chemistry, thermodynamics, fluid flow and other technical areas related to nuclear power plant design, operation and control.I am currently tutoring in algebra, science, and math, which are my favorite subjects to tutor. I firmly believe that with guidance and a desire, every individual has the ability to overcome any hurdle they face.I enjoy working on home renovations, having won an award for the restoration of an 1840's Victorian. I also enjoy bicycling, snorkeling, scuba diving, and photography. But most of all, I enjoy spending time with family and friends over good food and wine in pleasant surroundings.
