After more than twenty years teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, I have come to realize that my teaching must be practical, grounded in real-world experience, and student-focused. I believe that my job as a teacher is to help students prepare for their life's work, however they may choose to define this concept. This idea is something that I reflect on, usually at the beginning of the academic year, to reinforce to myself the extent to which my students are counting on me as a teacher, the importance of what I am setting out to do, and the dedication required to achieve this goal.

I am a native Spanish speaker and a language enthusiastic. My experience teaching Spanish is very diverse. I have had students from 7th to 12th grade whose marks have amazingly improved in 3 tutoring sessions from 49 to 92. I have also taught the language to adult professionals who want to improve their Spanish as a valuable skill that will push their careers to the next level. I have a Bachelors Degree in Economics and a Masters Degree in Organizational Development. I speak 3 languages fluently (Spanish, English and Brazilian Portuguese) ; currently I am learning Korean. As a foreign language student myself, my approach to learning is to make it fun and exciting. With my school students, I tend to breakdown difficult concepts in few several pieces that are easy to understand, while with my adult learners I use contents that are of special interest to them. Learning a language opens doors to amazing new different parts of the world and new experiences; I will be honored to support my students in that journey!!

I am motivated to help students learn new things and overcome challenging obstacles. This engineering path also gave me the opportunity to participate in my first internship. Last June through August 2014, I had the opportunity to work as a Facilities Mechanical Intern for CH2M Hill; there, I discovered that I am great working with others and can naturally assume a role of leadership.Throughout my education, I have gained great value in the teaching process. I believe a good instructor must show passion, patience, and possess the ability to make topics contagious to his/her students.
