As a young woman with a passionate interest in helping others improve their lives, I earned my first bachelor's degree in Education, followed by a second in Interior Design. Though I loved teaching, my affinity for creative business endeavors led me to pursue Interior Design. After working for many years with my own company in Interior Design, I found myself ready to explore new horizons in the corporate world of real estate. My family was and is still heavily involved for many years in both residential sales and development, as well as a few have migrated into commercial real estate sales and development. In Phoenix, I worked with a real estate company specializing in new home sales, working with both new home buyers and residential real estate investors. As I built my real estate clientele, I grew and developed my own investment real estate company with more than 30 agents in Scottsdale, AZ in the mid 2000's. This unfolded through my participation in AZREIA, one of the nation's largest personal real estate investment associations at that time. I held workshops, spoke at the National Convention for 3 years, was an Instructor with the Commercial Real Estate Institute, and wrote monthly newsletter articles for the Association's Monthly Newsletter over a four-year period.I was featured as a Master Investor on the cover of Personal Real Estate Investor Magazine, and also as Broker of the month in Broker Magazine, and was a sought-after speaker and advisor within the real estate investment community. I appeared on radio, and in front of national audiences, discussing not only real estate investment, but also personal development, and the virtues of also investing in oneself, in all areas of true wealth. Personal Development is one of my passions and in my free time, taking self-improvement classes brings me joy.

My undergraduate nursing degree is from Penn State University and my graduate degrees are from University of Phoenix. Currently I am working on my Doctorate in Education. I have worked as a staff nurse, clinical educator, trauma-flight nurse, nurse manager, Director of Nursing, nursing faculty, Nursing Program Chair at a university, and as a tutor. It is so important for nursing students to have a strong foundation upon which to build their nursing profession. In order to learn the material, students need to visualize the importance and the why's of what it is they are learning. Applying the content to cases and actual examples will allow a student to remember the content. Active engagement is key to learning. In order to be successful both the mentor and the student need to be actively engaged in the learning process. I have experience in group and individual tutoring. My areas I am most passionate about are the Foundations, Med-Surg, Advanced/Critical Care, Pharmacology, and Roles/Capstone courses along with NCLEX prep. Relaxation is necessary when studying and I love to be at the beach, watch and attend sports events, and work in my antique store.

ARDMS - Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Tutor • +4 Subjects
I tutor: SPI and RVT.Work: I did my clinicals at the University of Michigan in 2013 and worked there until 2017. I began teaching ultrasound courses at Jackson college while I was at U of M around 2016. After a couple of semesters I became the clinical education coordinator for vascular ultrasound at Owens Community College in Perrysburg Ohio. After a year at Owens I went back to scan vascular ultrasound full time at U of M. I currently scan full time at U of M, teach ultrasound physics part time at Jackson College, and tutor here.Teaching style: My strongest characteristic is patience. I think classes are nice for getting the broad idea of things, but I really think that smaller groups or one on one sessions are a great place to get things that are falling through the cracks. Establishing what is falling through the cracks and figuring out/becoming comfortable with what we don't know will help get us to your end goal quicker. I've been doing this a long time and there are still things I don't know off the top of my head, but I'm always willing to learn those things together with my students.Education: I graduated with my Bachelors in Applied Science - Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound from Siena Heights in 2017 and my Associates in Applied Science - Vascular Ultrasound in 2014.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northern Kentucky University and a Master of Social Work from Florida State University. I am a classroom teacher that has taught various grades at the elementary and middle school levels since 2003. For the past seven years, I have taught math and science. The intermediate elementary math focuses on word problems. Year after year, students enter my classroom struggling to read. I am at a lost as to why there are so many struggling. As a result of students' lack of reading fluency, of course, the students struggle with math. It has been particularly rewarding to dedicate more time working with lower-achieving students and see the difference that I am making. I figure being able to mentor more students like this individually and one on one would be an even more rewarding opportunity for both the students and myself. The difference may not be noticeable, at first, however I realize that this is a process and patience is important. I understand that not all students learn the same way. My experience has allotted me the opportunity to hone in on various learning styles. Therefore, it is my passion to engage in creative lesson planning to supplement the curriculum. Even though my recent emphasis has been on elementary math, I also have experience in teaching/tutoring elementary reading and writing. In addition, I feel it is important to have avenues to unwind and relax. In my free time, I like to travel, play strategic games on the iPad, and do arts and crafts. Furthermore, I read and listen to audiobooks of humorous fiction and nonfiction. I also like to watch comedic and dramatic movies and television series. I exercise by walking and I am going to challenge myself by taking up tennis and racquetball in the near future.

The lifelong education of the developing human mind is vitally important to anyone with a vested interest in seeing individuals enjoy a happy, flourishing life, especially to those who are or wish to become teachers. I view studying and doing mathematical work as one of the greatest joys available to human beings in this context, and it is my role as a teacher to effectively, enthusiastically communicate the importance and beauty of math to my students as well as to foster their powers of critical and mathematical thinking. It is my professional hope that at the end of each tutoring session my students will have learned above all an abiding respect for reason: a lifelong conviction that they can understand reality and make sense of the world. However, a great teacher does much more than merely recite the content of his subject. I intend to encourage and motivate each one of my students to perform academically, at a level no less than their very best, yet there is much more to teaching than just making certain that students answer questions correctly on a test. A teacher must never lose sight of the idea that he is preparing his students to be successful no matter what endeavor they choose to pursue after graduation. Any chance I get to improve the futures of my students will be just as important to them, and to me, as learning mathematical ideas in the classroom.
