I received my BFA in Design and Production from Carnegie Mellon University and my Masters of Elementary Education from Vanderbilt University. I currently work as a teacher in an Early Childhood Education School that is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and enriches learning in the natural world.When it comes to teaching, I work to be an educator that is responsive to the needs of students, weaves student interest into academics, and creates learning environments that encourage curiosity. I am passionate about connecting with students as individuals to create a strong foundation for our learning experiences.My approach to teaching all subjects is highly adaptable to the needs of the students and their personal contexts for learning. I am a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received my Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering. While in graduate school, I was a TA for the laboratory portion of Behavior of Materials. After graduation I worked for seven years as a bridge engineer at a consulting firm. I enjoyed working with younger engineers and interns to walk them through design concepts and make sure they had a good understanding of what their calculations really meant.I tutor a variety of high school and college level mathematics and sciences. At the collegiate level, I am most passionate about structural analysis and engineering and FE-Civil preparation. With structural analysis and engineering, I love sharing real world examples with students to show how the material they are learning can be applied. I enjoy helping students prepare for the FE-Civil exam because it is their first step toward licensure and advancing their professional career. At the high school level, I am passionate about helping students with algebra and algebra-based physics. I feel that both these subjects teach students how to problem solve which is a great life skill even if they pursue something other than math or science in the future.In my spare time I enjoy taking ballet classes, reading, walking with my dog, practicing yoga, and watching football.

I have worked in a wide variety of healthcare settings from acute care to home health. I enjoy teaching nursing students, as I feel we need strong nurses who are competent and skilled to care for others. I have been a clinical instructor and currently precept graduate nursing students. I like to assess how each student learns so that we can work from there to develop the best way to understanding and mastery of the information. I am currently a medical resident at Brockton Hospital and will be continuing my training in Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital next summer. I received my medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed my undergraduate training at Northwestern University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology.While I love teaching all subjects, science is easily my favorite because it explains how everything works and is so applicable to the world around us. Not everyone loves science, but I have found that once a student gains the skills and confidence they need, science becomes a fascinating subject that stimulates their curiosity and excitement.Most of the students I tutor come to me for help with science or math; however, I have also helped students with standardized test prep and general study and time management skills. As a medical student, I've had plenty of personal experience with managing a rigorous course load, test anxiety, and time management. My experiences as a student help me relate to my students. Having been through the stressful college and medical school application process myself, I can give my students the advice and encouragement they need to be successful. I received my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Grinnell College in 2020 and also have extensive coursework in philosophy, biology, chemistry, and physics. I worked as a calculus tutor in Grinnell's math lab and tutored a professor's 8th grader in recreational math, competition problems, and ACT math test prep. I'm an alumni of the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) and enjoy juggling, sudoku, and creating origami tessellations.
