I graduated with honors in all my degrees. I taught life-earth science and special education. In summer months I taught at risk students who were trying to get into college. Later I performed physical therapy on school kids.To finance my physical therapy education, I obtained an SBA loan and opened a tutoring center. Most of my clients were elementary or junior high students, but I did tutor an R.N. who needed to pass introduction to statistics for her career. The most frequent subject I tutored was math which was my favorite. Though math concepts are simple many students are intimidated by them. Students that have struggled with a concept need to bolster their confidence before mastering it. Teaching one to one or in small groups allows me to craft my lessons to match each students learning style.On my time off I attend science lectures at local colleges and started a science meet up group. I also enjoy working out at the gym.

I taught after school programs and summer classes for students who were making up credits in order to graduate. I have learned to adjust my teaching approach for the students I have before me. I understand the concept of learning styles. I have experience with students who are bilingual and are struggling with English as a second language. I have worked with students of all skill levels. I have tried to remain healthy by running and going to the fitness center daily. I enjoy keeping current on the news and going out with friends.I am using this extreme stay at home time to enhance my online tutoring skills and to explore the technology that is being employed to bring education into students' homes. I have also explored the possibilities that this unprecedented time in history has caused some to contemplate a new reality for education. Education may never return to what it was before.

Outside of my college life, I am an EMT with 4 years of EMS experience who is passionate about helping new providers to flourish. I have recently retired from the HiTech industry as an Engineering Executive with a Professional Engineering License practicing more than 35yrs. Additionally, my MS Mechanical Engineering Degree was focused on Structural Mechanics as a specialty. Since retirement from industry, I have been a substitute High School teacher for Math and Science along with being a Varsity Tutor. Both educational roles allow me to be a mentor by helping future STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) students grow educationally, and Engineers pass their FE & PE Exams in achieving Engineering Licensure. The FE & PE License Exam Curriculum that I have developed is highly successful with over a 90% passing rate for those students tutored.

My background is in Athletic Training. I have a bachelors degree and a masters degree in AT. My love of sports and for the human body has led me down this path. I am a current college professor teaching a wide variety of courses in health, anatomy and physiology, and exercise science. I have recently gone on to continue my education and just completed my doctoral degree in kinesiology. I teach college students primarily but do have experience teaching middle school age students through an anatomy camp each summer. I also have 3 children in elementary school in which I am probably overly involved in their learning.As far as my teaching style goes, I love to present information in multiple ways. I often look for youtube videos on content that students don't understand, and use them instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. I also like to use images, both labeled and unlabeled. Often times it takes hearing something more than once for it to be remembered and my goal is to provide repetition but in a way that it not so repetitive. I also encourage my students to teach me. If you can act like the teacher than you know the content.When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling around and showing my kids different historic sites and National Parks. I think one can learn a lot when traveling and it is one way I like to teach my own children about our world, culture, country, and even math. I'm a former soccer player turned soccer mom now, but I love all sports. Because I teach anatomy, health, and exercise science, many of my students are athletes so I am able to use sports to teach concepts.We can learn from the world around us, we just need a little encouragement to get started.

I have been working in the Financial Industry for Thirteen years, I have completed my Bachelors in Law and Society. I initially chose Law because I have always wanted to embark on a career path where I can make a difference. My passion for service and my purpose in making a difference was what led me to the field of study in law.I have spent the past 13 years working in Corporate America as an Administrative Assistant supporting senior managers booking travel, managing calendars etc. Although I love my job I always feel I wanted to do more, I felt I wasn't making much of an impact and contributing to society. Working with senior managers has helped me to become a well rounded individual but something was missing.I've always looked for ways I can do more and fulfill my purpose by making a difference. I have a passion for learning and as a result I have always looked for ways to increase my knowledge. I have volunteered with organisations such as LIU school of continuing Ed. where I use my weekends to tutor students learning English I have also volunteered at 1199 Adult Learning Center each time I completed a class I would feel so fulfilled I felt I was making a difference and this made me happy. I have also completed a TESOL program during the time I was tutoring to help me be better equipped to assist the students. I have also traveled to Tanzania numerous times and found the Swahili language interesting as well as the people.Education is very important to me and this is the reason I have decided to enroll in the World Language Teacher Graduate Certificate Program. I do believe that shaping minds from a young age is essential to how one's future is shaped.
