I have taught and tutored students of all age groups and all grades ranging from KG to college (including students with ADHD and on the Autism spectrum). I have taught these students in a wide range of subjects including Accounting, Math, English, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, Essay Writing, Hindi, and Finance. I am a passionate educator and have spent many years helping students become better learners and skilled to become better citizens of our world.

I currently teach all levels of Spanish at LaRue County High School in Hodgenville, Kentucky. I have 26 years of teaching experience in the public education system from teaching elementary age children to high school students. I enjoy teaching sentence structure and grammar in Spanish to help the Spanish learner figure out how to transfer that skill into a conversation in Spanish. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of San Diego in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Spanish, and earned a Master of Science in Special Education with a specialty in teaching children with mild to moderate disabilities from National University also in San Diego. Currently I am working towards National Board Certification in Early Adolescent through Young Adulthood - World Languages emphasis in Spanish.

I think helping students improve or accelerate their learning is a wonderful gift. I believe that through extra practice and encouragement knowledge can be gained and then students can independently apply what they have learned in various areas.

I am a junior at Allegheny College who is majoring in Economics and triple-minoring in Mathematics, Psychology, and Dance and Movement Studies. Growing up, I was always one of the students who helped my classmates when they didn't understand certain problems.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communication at California State University, Chico, and my Master of Arts in American and New England Studies from The University of Southern Maine. I also hold a Secondary Education Credential from Chapman University. For the last four years, I've been a substitute teacher of most subjects in grades K-12 and a private tutor. Prior to that, I was a high school Social Studies teacher for fifteen years. I specialize in all Social Studies subjects for all grades, as well as English Language Arts, Reading, Writing, Literature, Humanities, Editing and Revision, Organization and Study Skills, Communication and Public Presentation. I can also assist with Math in grades 1-3 and Science in grades 1-5. At the same time, I'm a historian who has traveled over 40,000 miles around the United States as a Cultural Studies scholar and worked as a volunteer and board member of a local historical society. My short stories and flash fiction have been published in literary outlets, and I am a member of a writer's critique group in which fiction is peer-reviewed and edited. I'm passionate about being an educator because I value the cultivation of a love for lifelong skill-building and believe that knowledge is power. I strive to create a student-centered environment where learning is an enjoyable and meaningful place on the student's path to reaching their fullest potential. Integrity, strong critical thinking, and original creative thought are encouraged. In my spare time I read, write, study history, spend time with my family, play with my dog, and enjoy individual and team sports, usually outdoors.

I have been on all sides of the actuarial exam process - I passed the exams myself, I have written questions for exams, helped the SOA make curriculum decisions, and graded exams. I'd love to help you pass your next actuarial exam!My work as a healthcare consulting actuary has also led me to attain the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential, a subject which I have a real passion for. Medical coding is the backbone of our country's healthcare systems financing, and the cost of healthcare has never been more important. That means we need good coders like never before - passing the CPC is an important step for you filling that role!
