"The student and I worked on an upcoming paper he has for his Western Civilization class. The work we did this morning was very encouraging. He is able to make conclusions from the text we have reviewed together. Through me continuing to ask these questions, he will soon be able to ask himself the same questions independently (and therefore draw conclusions on text organically). The format of the paper we worked on is very similar to the PowerPoint presentation format we went over on Monday, so we are continuing to build his basic understanding of persuasive structure, both in essay and speech format. Additionally, I am showing him ways to systematically write a paper by breaking down each step -- from the reading to the note taking to the point making -- slowly and comfortably."
"We went over last week's business assignment and started on this week's. We then talked about the final project in the Art History class and settled on Frankenstein."
"The student read 'The Napoleonic Empire' section of his textbook. For each paragraph, he and I discussed what he read and then he outlined the main idea from his reading and our discussion. We briefly discussed the photos and the timeline. The student did great today!"
