I am a recent graduate from Texas A and M University and received my Bachelor of Science with Magma Cum Laude. I'm from Japan and speak Japanese, Chinese, and English fluently. I used to be a president for the Japanese Language and Culture Club, which I occasionally teach Japanese to students. Also, I was a TA for microbiology in college for a year and I tutored in math and reading in college and high school. I received 5 on AP Japanese and Calculus BC. I really enjoy teaching, especially Japanese, Algebra, biology and chemistry, and I would love to help students out by delivering my passion and hard work in academics, encouraging students to ask questions and making the tutoring fun and organize.

I tutored students ranging in age from 13 to 50, in various subjects such as calculus and chemistry. While I enjoy tutoring students in all of the subjects I specialize in, I love tutoring students in physics (specifically, mechanics and waves). Physics is my favorite subject to tutor because while it is more difficult to demonstrate phenomena from other subjects such as organic chemistry, physics is a very prevalent science, so even by rolling my pencil off of a table, I can easily demonstrate physics concepts to my students.For me, hearing "Oh, that makes so much more sense now!" from the students whom I tutor makes my job very rewarding because working with them to find the approach that best caters to their needs feels awesome. As a tutor, I always ensure that my students have a good qualitative understanding of the subjects they are struggling in before helping them with quantitative problems. For example, rather than simply telling my calculus students the formula for integration by parts, I first show them how it is derived so they acquire a good grasp of how it operates.Outside of school, I really enjoy being involved with music. I love singing, playing the drums, piano, and guitar. My favorite genre of music is rock, so playing rock songs with a band has always been one of my favorite things to do.

As a general chemistry tutor at Cornell University, I guided students through problem sets and exam preparation. To effectively do so, I integrated the knowledge and skills that I had gained through my own experience as a student in general chemistry as well as in other disciplines. While a teaching assistant for a nutrition laboratory course, I worked with the instructors to promote an appreciation for positive nutritional practices. Furthermore, six days a week for almost two years, I helped two local children achieve psychological and reading skills by utilizing psychoeducational books as a tool. Finally, I mentored two internationally-adopted youths in Japanese language and culture.
