I am currently an undergraduate student at Cornell University studying Biological sciences. At school, I am involved in research regarding Veterinary Oncology to uncover more about treating lymphoma in dogs. I have also worked with MedLife, a medical brigade organization, to bring medical care and education to Lima, Peru. Outside of classes, I dance as a member of a Korean hip-hop dance group. Currently during the summer I am working as a clinic instructor for a learning center geared towards individuals with learning disabilities. I have a strong interest in working with children, and young adults, having tutored since middle school and spent a year as a teaching assistant for elementary reading and math. I attended preschool through 11th grade in the U.S. and received my high school (international baccalaureate) diploma from an international boarding school in Hong Kong. During college, I studied Mandarin Chinese and Korean. I completed 6 months of study abroad in South Korea. I have extensive 1:1 tutoring experience. In college, I worked as a teacher and private tutor for Korean high school students applying for US colleges. As a graduate student, I served as a reading interventionist for K-4th graders for 2 years. I have previous test prep experience as an ACT class teacher and private tutor for a national company. My most recent tutoring experience was for a high school junior in Minneapolis. We worked on homework completion, mostly for the student's Beginner Mandarin class. I am a graduate of New York University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Childhood (G 1-6) Education and Childhood (G1-6) Special Education. I have gotten my teacher certification in the state of New York, right after graduating. After graduating from NYU, I taught English to students in Elementary School in Korea (G1-6) and I have taught all different levels. I am now pursuing a master's of Education in English Language Learner program at Vanderbilt University. I am passionate about elementary education and teaching English as a foreign language. In my experience of learning and teaching elementary school, I always try to make the activity more engaging and fun. In my spare time, I like to listen to music, watch tv, and hang out with friends.

I am licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of New York. Subjects that I am the most comfortable teaching are math (up to Algebra 2), science (Biology, Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, etc), and certain languages (Korean, Japanese, French) at the beginner level. While dabbling in a few "teaching" experiences (teaching assistant for a course, Paint Nite instructor) I found that I do best in a 1-on-1 setting which tutoring fits the bill. My teaching style is incredibly laid-back and my end-goal is making sure that one is comfortable with me and also with learning the material.

I am most comfortable teaching the SAT Reading/Writing and helping youths with their personal statements. Furthermore, my one-year experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA for PeaceJam Foundation – an award-winning organization that promotes service learning and peacekeeping through the combined efforts of Nobel Peace Laureates and young people – has instilled in me a deep reverence and hope for our youths today. I strongly believe in our youths’ limitless potential to pursue their dreams and become agents of positive social change and know I will be an excellent mentor/coach through their journey.
