My goal for every session is that every student comes away with a better understanding of the material. I did my BS in Mathematics, and Finance and a minor in Economics. While those subjects may sound daunting, I know that any concept can be understood with right explanation.

My main goal as a tutor is to do my best to help students while working toward my degree in education. I also hold a substitute teaching license within the state of Nevada and have passed all necessary federal background checks for that, as well as having completed education focused requirements (60 college credits and a passing score on the praxis test) to receive said license.

I am a graduate of Midwestern State University, in Wichita Falls Texas with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and also a master's degree in Computer Science. After graduating with my master's degree, I returned home to my beautiful twin island country in the Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda. I then started my career in the field of Information Technology. I worked for a few years as a Systems Analyst for one of the largest Resort on the island. I then worked for a number of years as a Project Manager with the Information Technology Department for the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. While working at these two places, I also taught at the University of the West Indies as a Local Tutor. In 2017, my family and I moved to Florida, in the United States. Since moving to Florida, I have been working for the Orange County Public Schools as a Computer Education Teacher. I am also employed as an Adjunct Professor at Valencia College with the Computer Science Department. I love teaching and am a firm believer that education is important to everyone in order to improve knowledge, ways of living and their social and economic status. When I am not educating, I spend my time with my family and just enjoying life as much as possible.

I received my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Information Systems (Computer Science) with a concentration in Project Management from DeVry University. I teach and tutor in subjects such as C#, ASP.NET with C# Code Behind, Visual Basic.NET, JQuery, JavaScript and VBScript. Recently I have added MVC (Model View Controller) to my skill set as well.My motto is "Teach the World", my corner of the world anyway. If a student is willing to put in the work necessary to learn a topic they are struggling with, I will never give up on them. I love to lead a student to what I refer to as 'The Archimedes Eureka Moment'. That moment when a student truly understands a topic they have fought and worked so hard to understand. The look of pride on their faces and the light of inspiration and infinite possibility in their eyes is what drives me to continue to teach and tutor.I currently work as a Software Developer, and I was a professor at DeVry University from 2008 to 2012. I took a break from teaching and I am working with DeVry University to come back and teach evening Computer Science classes once again. I am comfortable with tutoring and teaching one on one, online and in a class room environment from DeVry University and now with Varsity Tutors as well.George Bernard Shaw (Albert Eisenstein's BFF) once said "If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange apples we both still have one apple. However if I have an idea and you have an idea and we exchange those ideas we will both have two ideas".From tutoring and teaching at DeVry University in the past I found even though I was the one doing the teaching or tutoring, the student most always had an idea to offer as well. Once the student has reached 'The Archimedes Eureka Moment', the 'what else can I do with this?' and the 'what if?' questions are infectious and quite often leads to further comprehension and understanding for both the tutor and the student. Which is why I do what I do.

Teachers made a huge difference in my life when I was growing up. Now, as an adult, I feel lucky to be able to give back as a tutor. I love getting to know my students, learning how they tick. Understanding how my students learn allows me to tailor my approach to each student to fit his or her individual needs. I like to incorporate the student's interest as well as humor, when I can!

You can learn so much about a person by examining what he or she reads. My favorite book is entitled, "Mindset" by Carol S. Dweck and it is unequivocally phenomenal. In order to provide you with a brief synopsis, I will simply say that it addresses two different mindsets, one is a "fixed" mindset and the other is a "growth" mindset. As a tutor, I am a firm believer in the "growth" mindset because I know that a person can increase their achievement, in virtually any arena, if he or she decides to put more effort towards growth in that particular arena. As a tutor, I will encourage each and every student to carefully examine what he or she thinks and says in regards to his or her ability in that area. I will share stories of people who are famous for their accomplishments, not because they are exceptionally gifted, but because they chose to invest the time to work towards growth and excellence. That, I believe, makes success attainable for everyone.

I received my Bachelor of Science from Boston University where I studied Biomedical Engineering. I went on to work as a field service engineer in Atlanta, GA. I recently went back to school and received my Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Connecticut. I tutor a range of subjects, but I especially like tutoring admissions tests such as the SATs and GMATs to help enable people to reach their educational goals. In my spare time I enjoy reading and playing games of any kind.

A graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2013, I have a multitude of both professional and private teaching/tutoring experience and skills. The teaching certification program I completed is heavily focused on STEM education and creating well-rounded students for today's technology centered world. Our lesson plans were both hands-on and thoroughly engaging while ensuring efficacy in education. I firmly believe that every student has the potential for "math literacy"; with a little help, anyone can be a math-confident person. I am most comfortable teaching math subjects (from preschool to BC Calculus), but I do have some background in reading/writing tutoring.
