Today we reviewed probability and combinations. We discussed creating a sample space to show all the outcomes. We reviewed simplifying fractions. We also worked on her homework packet which was a basic review of the year. She did very well. The student has been a pleasure to work with. She always had a positive attitude and motivation to learn.

Today, the student and I spent our last session together solving fun and challenging word problems! We spent this session working on various word problems that required addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. She seemed to really understand each problem and has shown tremendous progress throughout the course of our time together, and I am confident that she will do well in math this upcoming school year!

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Madison in Kansas City, MO
The student and I started working on algebraic form using n = a number. She had a hard time with it but was eager to try again later. It was hard for her to stay focused when she felt like she didn't understand parts. I'm going to work on breaking it down more, so that she can feel comfortable with the material.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Alexander in Kansas City, MO
We returned to the subjects we've been discussing deeply lately: time and fractions/decimals. The student seems to have improved with both telling time and considering duration, so if she's practicing, it's going well and she should keep it up! She's doing fairly well with fractions and decimals, and we'll keep working on exactly how those two concepts connect. The student told me that she'd like to refocus tutoring a little bit to get back to basics -- place values (and all the associated content), pattern recognition, and reading charts and graphs, so I'm going to tailor future appointments to these needs. Place values, I agree, are critical.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Emily in Kansas City, MO
The student and I continued to work on forming number bonds. We made multiple number bonds and stories using different pictures provided by her textbook. We also worked on reading and phonics. For writing, I had her write out the letters of the alphabet before we focused on individual letters. Today's focus were the letters B, C, K, and M. For our next session, we will be continuing with her assignments for math, and reading, then using the remainder of the session to focus on writing.
