Anatomy & Physiology Tutor • +7 Subjects
Hi! I'm Geoff, currently a Doctoral student studying physical therapy. My career goals are to become an autonomous practitioner as well as continue to assist others with comprehension of various bouts of information. In addition to PT, my other passion is helping others, whether it be physically, or in this case educationally. I like the challenge when someone has difficulty understanding something, trying to associate the concept to something else. In doing so, I provide the catalyst between the student and the information. There are always multiple ways to get to the same location, the fastest may not always be the best.

Emergency Medicine Tutor • +5 Subjects
I enlisted as a 68W in the USAR in 2014 that is where I found a love of emergency medicine. I started teaching in small group during my time with the 18th Field Hospital. I was first put in charge of the minor care/sick call area where I had to train and keep medics up to date with their skills. After about two years of that I was made NCOIC of the ER for the hospital unit. That added the responsibility of ensuring all the medics had the knowledge and skills to work in that setting. Going from a field medic to learning the ER setting is a jump to say the lest. I spent hours of my own time setting up lessons to have them learn what they needed to know. I have been in this position since 2019.I believe in a approach to teaching that fits the student. Get a quick overview of what they know and what they need work on. Finding goals that are obtainable in the time we have to work. I have found that a strong understanding of where each person is at leads to better outcomes in the learning environment.I do not like it when someone is unable to admit they are wrong. I have in the time I have been in health care been wrong many of times. Being wrong is not a problem it is a learning experience for anyone willing to learn.

Armed with bachelors and juris doctor degrees from a small, liberal arts college (Washington and Lee University), I embarked on a fulfilling career of teaching, consulting, and mentorship. I have been a legal consultant, college professor at three separate colleges including the University of Phoenix, American Intercontinental University, and Axia College, business owner, management consultant, blogger, and now an active tutor. These experiences have given me distinguished experience to guide students of any age. When starting any tutoring session, my goals for each student at the outset are always to: 1) enlighten through current events, 2) offer application of course concepts, 3) motivate for sustained learning beyond the classroom, and 4) ensure full comprehension of the concepts. Although my subjects typically present theoretical concepts, these concepts can be easily learned because many others have learned them too. The concepts also have real-world application. I utilize current events to clarify course concepts and give students a reference point for those concepts. For me, it is also important that my students not only learn the course concepts for the sake of passing tests and submitting good papers. But, it is equally important that they are motivated beyond my tutoring sessions to continue learning and possess a knowledge base that they could use even ten (10) years from now.

NCLEX Tutor • +3 Subjects
The key challenges for students from my experience has been foremost, time management, but most important being able to distinguish which facts, data, and circumstances are important to identify in questions, case scenarios, and vignettes. Students often get trapped in the weeds and have difficulty identifying the key components in questions that are presented in regards to "What is the question asking the student to identify and do?" and "The why behind the option(s) is/are the best selection(s) to choose".I possess over thirty-plus years in leadership positions in the healthcare arena and education focusing on student/learner success in academia and healthcare settings. I am able to see the "The Big Picture" and assess, develop, plan interventions and implementation of curriculum/instruction design to aid and facilitate the direct learning of participants and improvement in their overall learning outcomes. My doctorate research focused on the policies and procedures institutions had employed for NCLEX success in student learning, titled "Quality Remediation Leads to Successful Learning", https://hdl.handle.net/10657/4084 . The successful findings and approaches can be applied to all disciplines of education.

Elementary School Tutor • +23 Subjects
I am a veteran teacher with seven years of experience in grades K-5. I've had the pleasure of teaching in both South Carolina and Georgia, with vast experience in literacy and math intervention, as well as Talented and Gifted differentiation. For the past two years I have served as a primary interventionist for a group of students in my reading and math classes; I also supplemented students in Fulton County's virtual 6th grade math program through small group instruction on 6th grade math standards.I am a graduate of Roanoke College with a major in History and a minor in Elementary Education. I hold a graduate degree in Education Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and an endorsement in Talented and Gifted Education from the University of South Carolina. I recently won the Teacher of the Year award at my school, and I am certified in both Project Based Learning and STEM Education. An avid reader myself, I have a deep passion for teaching students how to read, and how to improve their reading comprehension. I also love teaching math, and have a deep understanding of how skills "spiral" in both the Common Core and Georgia math standards. With the advent of virtual teaching and learning this year, I spent the last quarter of the school year teaching online, so I am well-versed in a multitude of virtual resources and learning platforms.I believe learning should be fun and have honed my ability to integrate all subjects into learning "experiences," which are engaging and challenging for students. All of my students are taught the growth mindset, and through a series of small goals we work together to tackle even the hardest of subjects.
