Hi! I'm Ellie, and I am a junior at Yale University studying Biomedical Engineering (pre-med)! I have always considered myself a life-long student, and I strive to make learning exciting and empowering for everyone. On campus, I work as a graphic designer for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), volunteer EMT, am the Arts Editor for the Yale Scientific Magazine, am the Layout Editor for the Yale Globalist Magazine, conduct autism research in the School of Medicine, and tutor a Differential Equations course to small groups of students weekly. Aside from my passion for science and math, I enjoy writing essays in my literature classes, designing in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and more and also have much experience writing application essays for colleges and jobs!

We were made to learn, to explore and enjoy the world around us. I believe this, and I love to guide young people to discover and appreciate all that is out there that helps us grow.My speciality is Language Arts, but I have taught many other subjects at different grade levels, including music! I still love to learn new things and explore them together with my students.

I have over 20 years of experience in social services which range from working in group home shelters to children and families. I have been a Girl Scout troop leader for over 10 years and that opportunity has allowed me to hone my skills in working with young girls and teaching them how to be innovative thinkers and world-changers. My view on being a successful student starts by ensuring that the student understands or knows their learning style. Once that is established, we can work on techniques to help master the material. I believe anyone can be great with the right tools.

I also have a MBA from UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School with a Finance Concentration. I recently completed my MS in Finance from Georgetown. I have worked for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, investment banks, and a private equity firm; so, I have experience in the applied application of academic theory.I am adept at teaching economics and finance, as well as topics in math, statistics, business administration, and standardized testing including several of the Series Exams.My teaching philosophy begins with understanding a student's goals and helping them achieve success both inside and outside of the classroom. I can use elements of a student's background to relate complex subjects in a way that is more familiar with the student.Outside of work, I am an avid sports fan, lover of books and movies, meeting new people and hanging out with friends. Since graduation, I have moved to Houston, Texas and have been tutoring students of all ages in Mathematics. I am passionate not only about Mathematics, but in helping students succeed.
