Before I began my career in real estate, I worked as a behavior therapist for children with Autism. I was hired by my real estate school to tutor students after passing my exam and that is what made me pursue my teaching licensure. Teaching is very much so my happy place, its where I thrive. After studying and passing one of the hardest exams I have taken to date in my life, I completely get the struggle of understanding concepts, definitions, laws and making them real. I am currently a 4th year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine and previously graduated from Rice University, Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science and Biochemistry & Cell Biology. I have been a teacher for the past 10 years, teaching all core subjects to students of all ages. I have worked with students as young as kindergarten and as old as high school seniors, through my regular classroom and summer school jobs. I currently teach 6th grade (for the past 5 years), in a typical elementary style self-contained classroom, meaning I teach all subjects, and I absolutely love it! I enjoy working with people and helping them develop their interests and skill sets, as personal growth is one of my most important values. I have both my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and master's degree in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University. As an undergrad I also minored in Literacy and Spanish, the latter of which allowed for a wonderful summer study abroad experience in Guatemala. I teach all subjects but enjoy tutoring math the most, since when I was a young student I struggled in math. Through consistent effort and practice I began to improve in my math abilities and I want to impart that same feeling of success to my students. I learned many strategies to help math make sense to me and I now introduce a variety of methods to help my students make sense of solving problems. I also enjoy tutoring for the PRAXIS exam and helping to develop test taking skills; my students consistently show meaningful growth on our state standardized testing. My Praxis Core Reading score: 181, Praxis Core Writing: 180, Praxis Core Math: 184. I am very eager to engage in new experiences, especially ones that allow me to tap into my creative side.
