I am an enthusiastic School-Based Teacher Leader in a K-8 school in the School District of Philadelphia, and I have a huge passion for teaching! That being saidI graduated from Rutgers University in History for my undergraduate, Eastern University for a Masters Degree in Elementary / Urban Education. I love elementary and middle school and teach high school students history at night. I love sports, reading, video games, traveling, and airplanes. I am fun and outgoing which I bring to my teaching!!! I look forward to working with many students at Varsity Tutors!!!

I enlisted as a 68W in the USAR in 2014 that is where I found a love of emergency medicine. I started teaching in small group during my time with the 18th Field Hospital. I was first put in charge of the minor care/sick call area where I had to train and keep medics up to date with their skills. After about two years of that I was made NCOIC of the ER for the hospital unit. That added the responsibility of ensuring all the medics had the knowledge and skills to work in that setting. Going from a field medic to learning the ER setting is a jump to say the lest. I spent hours of my own time setting up lessons to have them learn what they needed to know. I have been in this position since 2019.I believe in a approach to teaching that fits the student. Get a quick overview of what they know and what they need work on. Finding goals that are obtainable in the time we have to work. I have found that a strong understanding of where each person is at leads to better outcomes in the learning environment.I do not like it when someone is unable to admit they are wrong. I have in the time I have been in health care been wrong many of times. Being wrong is not a problem it is a learning experience for anyone willing to learn.

Armed with bachelors and juris doctor degrees from a small, liberal arts college (Washington and Lee University), I embarked on a fulfilling career of teaching, consulting, and mentorship. I have been a legal consultant, college professor at three separate colleges including the University of Phoenix, American Intercontinental University, and Axia College, business owner, management consultant, blogger, and now an active tutor. These experiences have given me distinguished experience to guide students of any age. When starting any tutoring session, my goals for each student at the outset are always to: 1) enlighten through current events, 2) offer application of course concepts, 3) motivate for sustained learning beyond the classroom, and 4) ensure full comprehension of the concepts. Although my subjects typically present theoretical concepts, these concepts can be easily learned because many others have learned them too. The concepts also have real-world application. I utilize current events to clarify course concepts and give students a reference point for those concepts. For me, it is also important that my students not only learn the course concepts for the sake of passing tests and submitting good papers. But, it is equally important that they are motivated beyond my tutoring sessions to continue learning and possess a knowledge base that they could use even ten (10) years from now.

While winning is largely a function of how it's defined, I consider my own success to be helping my students along a journey to attaining their respective goals. I am a graduate of Thomas Edison State University. I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing through an accelerated second degree nursing program at TESU. Since then, I have gone on to pass the NCLEX in 75 questions and have become a registered nurse. I am also a graduate from Rider University from which I obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience. I am extremely passionate about nursing. I love learning as much as possible as I can about nursing and spreading this knowledge! In my spare time, I enjoy playing soccer and running around with my dog.
