Cuan: Greenburgh tutor
Certified Tutor
I've been tutoring colleagues, younger family members, and friends my whole life and figured I'd try my hand at doing so professionally. I'm passionate about helping students because I know how hard it is to work your rear off and still feel like you're not making the progress you want to on your own. So, I'd like to be that aid to keep you on that upward trajectory and make sure you succeed! I received my Associate's Degree in Arts from College of the Desert and my Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I primarily tutor in the social sciences and social studies, but have retained enough knowledge to tutor in math and science for high school and below. My favorite subject to tutor is probably history because it was the first field I really fell in love with and hold a profound love for. My teaching philosophy is largely centered around getting students to critically engage with the material so they truly understand what they're supposed to be learning, while also making sure we don't fall behind in any areas. I'd describe my tutoring style as inquisitive. I want to know how a student is coming to their conclusions and gently helping to guide them on the right path and reinforcing their current understandings of the material. Outside of academia I love to listen to music and practice piano and guitar. On both instruments, I'm relatively proficient and love talking about music. Cooking and astronomy are also two hobbies that are near and dear to my heart outside of academia, and I love chatting about those too.
