Certified Tutor

Current undergraduate student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, working towards a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. While in high school and college alike, I have enjoyed tutoring my peers in subjects where they are struggling; seeing them improve in ways they didn't think possible. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about math, Spanish, and ACT prep. Math hasn't always come easy to me, and this past year at Virginia Tech showed me that in order to succeed at a college level, a firm grasp of concepts is needed and only gained through practice. My tutoring philosophy stems from my own studying strategies; it is important to use every available resource and practice as much as possible. Getting stuck on a problem is inevitable, especially while we are first coming to grips with the material, but utilizing the resources provided to us will help us see the whole picture. I will help my students see the resources available to them and demonstrate how to utilize them for both practice and reference. I think that tutoring help shouldn't just be when I am on the clock; if my student is ever stuck on a problem, I will make myself available to them over FaceTime or any other method. In my spare time, I enjoy both ice and roller hockey, and almost any other outdoor activity. I am an avid camper and value spending time with my family and friends.
