Certified Tutor

I enjoy the opportunity to work with students as individuals. Through one-to-one tutoring, I can find out the areas where a student excels and where additional help is needed. We can then work together to come up with an approach that helps the student in the most efficient way. Although I tutor in a broad range of subjects, I enjoy math the most because I like to see students mastering the steps and becoming eager to take on a new problem.

I have a bachelors degree in English from the University of Illinois and a math licensure from Eureka College. In the past, I have worked with students on a variety of subjects. Usually we focused on math and science, but we also covered some English classes. Many of the students I have worked with were in high school, but I also worked with some students in junior college. When I am tutoring, I like to give students a chance to discuss what they enjoy about a subject. Once they have explained their strengths, we can focus on areas of need. That way, we are starting out with positives that we can return to, as necessary.

Outside of classes, I like to go bicycling, follow most sports, and look for new and interesting sites on the Internet.
