The student and I were able to formulate a good topic regarding something that was of interest to her. We chose a different aspect of the religion vs. science argument for this logic paper, working to prove indirectly by using contrapositives that some of the claims that science has regarding religion are unfounded. I believe that just as she received an A on the last paper she wrote, this one will also turn out great.

The student and I read another chapter of Fellowship today, and then we played some more devil's advocate, focusing on the law.

We started out working on math homework. The math homework for today covered calculation of slope when given two points. As usual, the student actually understood it better than she thought. We started working on new science material. The class is now starting to learn about animals, starting with invertebrates. Today we took notes on animal basics (what makes an animal an animal, characteristics and behaviors, etc.).

The student and I went over her algebra practice homework of the distribution property. She did very well. We then practiced some more math problems. Started reviewing for the reading portion of the ISEE. She needs more practice focusing on the main topic of the readings.

We continued reviewing on the student's paper. We focused on college-level organization of a term paper, including titles, subheadings, topic sentences, transitions and flow. She continues to improve her writing style and we will continue to work on improving her academic tone.

The student studied material for his upcoming test on decimals. He worked on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. He did very well with these concepts, so we worked on problems in which he had to combine these skills to reach the correct answer. He has done very well with his work so far. We are now working on slowing down to avoid minor errors so that his grades will reflect his understanding of the material. Keep up the great work!
