The student and I went over his pre-calculus/trig math homework. We went over geometric and arithmetic infinite series and how to add them using formulas provided in his textbook. We reviewed notation for the series and how to determine whether a series is geometric, arithmetic, or neither.

The student and I reviewed her homework problems; the material was about piecewise functions. Overall, she got better at dealing with them as the session continued. We went over how to find the domain and range of piecewise functions, as well as finding specific values / data points within the function.

We discussed concerns regarding the ACT. I noted math is her weakest area. We had a lesson over the English ACT - types of questions, material to be test on, generalized strategy. We worked through a practice English ACT.

The student and I reviewed Newton's 3 Laws (motion, acceleration, and mass), and then I provided an introduction to algebra (4x=8; x=2). I also helped her prepare for her French test for the next day. I learned that writing things out helps her to retain the information better, which I can identify with. I believe that I can help her in achieving her goals for this school year.

Reviewed the following geometry concepts- solving problems using angle bisector theorem, converse of angle bisector theorem, perpendicular bisector theorem, converse of perpendicular theorem, triangle similarity proofs, application of midpoint and distance formula, relationship between angles formed by parallel lines, and transversal.
