We looked at what he had for the paper, talked about organizational tactics, and started working through a more developed outline to help guide his thoughts for the paper. We are meeting again tomorrow to continue working on it.

Tutoring review by Abira in St. Charles, IL
The student and I went over his summer reading. We compared notes of the chapters we read and discussed the book's themes and symbolism. He seems to be really enjoying the book, and I am enjoying it as well. Afterwards, I had him work on a writing prompt. He and I worked on the prompt together. We took notes on each article relating to the prompt (three articles that I found beforehand), made an outline together, and reworded the prompt in his own words. He wrote a great essay - he couldn't finish it, so we will go over the finished product next week. His assignment for our next session is to finish reading the book and finishing the essay.

Tutoring review by Spencer in St. Charles, IL
The student worked through online homework problems he had on complex numbers. The questions were at a pretty high level and that was the largest thing giving him trouble. I helped him a bit with concepts, and he finished very confidently.

Tutoring review by John in St. Charles, IL
This was a very good session. The student and I discussed an essay he has due later this month. He was well-organized and needed mostly a little prompting to remember items he planned to include but would forget. We also discussed characters and themes from the Lord of the Flies.

Tutoring review by Christopher in St. Charles, IL
The student is ready to move on to other concepts besides 1st grade word problems that concern addition, subtraction, and ordinal numbers. He has demonstrated to me over the past few weeks that he can read a word problem and write a formula in order to find the answer. I believe he can start 2nd grade word problems by next year; it will give him a head start for the next school year. I am going to incorporate money and time (clock) math problems for him starting next week. It is important to be able to count loose change and see how much money you have after a purchase. If he knows how to tell time in class, he will be able to use this ability everyday. I am looking forward to next week.
