Victoria NNAT Tutoring FAQ
The Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) is a nonverbal test of overall ability typically utilized to find gifted children. The questions on the NNAT are made up of geometric shapes and symbols, and call for few directions. The NNAT employs shapes and patterns to measure problem-solving and logical thinking abilities of a child without depending on their linguistic processing skills.
If your child needs help gearing up for the NNAT, Varsity Tutors can connect you with an experienced NNAT tutor.
Benefits of NNAT tutoring include:
Lessons with a knowledgeable tutor who can propose prompt and useful answers
An online instruction platform accessible when and where your child requires it
Educational methods fashioned exclusively for the NNAT
A mentality for learning that adjusts to your child's particular requirements
Your child's personalized NNAT tutoring sessions let them process the same varieties of questions that they could see on the test. Your child's NNAT tutor can drive them through the exam format, guide them through the topics shown in the test, and indicate to them methods to cope with the time constraints during the test.
Your child's NNAT tutoring sessions will run at a pace that suits child's needs. This self-paced method lets them work through many subjects faster than they might in a typical classroom, while taking the time they need to work on topics where they could call for more help. A NNAT tutor can also do work with your child on an individual basis, which can help your child to feel more effective and more confident. Practice exams are a crucial factor of the NNAT prep method. Your child's tutor can study with them on as many practice session tests as they need. This part of the process can often be highly useful at lifting your child's confidence and in curtailing any test anxiety they could be feeling, which can give them a mental boost on the big day.
If you came across this page by entering "NNAT tutoring near me" in a search bar, your search is over! Recent Victoria NNAT Tutoring Session Notes
The student and I looked over the math section she had done, and aside from a few topics that she couldn't quite pull from memory, there was nothing she couldn't do. She acknowledges that there's no reason she shouldn't get a 36 on math, so I'm looking forward to seeing that.
We also covered English, and there were a few more gaps to fill here. Again, she picked up the rules extremely quickly and should do quite well.
We learned a couple new techniques for answering certain math problems. We did some examples together that were kind of difficult, going over them multiple times to make sure the student understood them. Assigned a math practice section for homework.
In this session we covered the last of the sections, specifically critical reading. After going over strategies for sentence completions (context clues), and strategies for tackling the longer passages that had proved more troublesome in the original test (returning to general questions, easy eliminations), we did a practice test which showed some immediate improvement. After this, we spent some time brushing up on the writing section, and then ended by providing some recommendations for possible study solutions.
I assigned the student the math and science sections of a practice test yesterday. She didn't finish the math section so I started the session having her finish that up. We did an overview of important formulas/ideas to remember for the math section as well as plugging in and back solving strategies.
Spent last 30 minutes on science section going over the basic layout of the test.
The student and I started in on the Reading section today, as that will be our longest one. After discussing him how to apply LSU and the first/second pass system to the test, we took another Reading subject test, and Daniel improved from a 17 to a 24.
We continued to take practice tests in both English and Reading; I left Neha homework, which we will review tonight. Neha seemed to feel discouraged by the difficulty of the tests, but we will continue to focus on areas of opportunity in order to improve her scores.
