I am currently a biology major at UT Dallas and will graduate this May. Becoming a physician has been a lifelong dream of mine. I am excited to begin medical school at UT Southwestern next fall.I would love to help others who are pursuing a similar path and need SAT or MCAT tutoring. I am a graduate of California State University, where I received my M.A. in Humanities, and of the University of Colorado, where I received my B.A. in Anthropology. I completed my CELTA training (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) this July, and have been giving private English lessons since then. I have always loved traveling and learning new languages, which is why I would love to help you with your English language needs and make learning as fun as it has been for me.I am a very friendly, motivated and patient person and enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Besides learning new languages and traveling, I like going hiking, playing the piano, reading, and any water-related activities.

I received my undergraduate education at Eckerd College, where I received a BA in literature and creative writing, and I am currently enrolled in Emerson’s creative writing MFA. I have experience teaching in classrooms from my two years working with AmeriCorps, where I taught 7th grade language arts. I am offering tutoring, for all grade levels, in grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, literature, essay composition. I am also offering tutoring in ACT reading and GRE verbal prep.My overall favorite subject to teach is reading and literature. I feel it is one of the subjects that offers something for everyone. Improving a student’s reading comprehension, as well as finding literature that appeals to them, does more then anything else to instill a positive attitude toward education. Some of my other interests are writing poetry, chess, cooking and baking.

Ever since my time at John F. Kennedy Catholic School, I've been passionate about teaching students. While there, I taught other high schoolers (primarily grades nine and ten) in the subjects of English, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry. During my time in college, I tutored elementary and middle school students in the subject of math through the "America Counts" program. I also worked as a Writing and Speaking Center Associate in college, assisting my fellow students in editing and proofreading their papers, resumes, cover letters, and even public speeches. My favorite part of teaching is the moment when a student finally understands a concept, and I see the subsequent joy and relief in their eyes. In my spare time, I enjoy walks, writing poetry, journaling, bowling, and watching anime.

After I received my Master's degree in Financial Engineering I worked in the financial field for more than five years. It was very interesting and exciting. I was single and I enjoyed working those long and stressful hours.I moved on with my life and decided to have a family, which has been one of the best journeys in my life. I have been thinking about changing my path and beginning to teach.One day I woke up and went to the college that I admired. After multiple meetings and interviews I got hired.Teaching my first class was nerve racking but yet rewarding.I love what I do. I feel that I make a difference in my students' lives and they influence mine, too. They keep me motivated. Teaching is a noble field and I am proud to be part of it.
