Hi, I'm Aarzu! I'm currently an undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University, studying biochemistry and computer science. Since I was in elementary school, I have been making efforts to learn and understand mathematical concepts at more advanced levels through self studying and classes outside of school. I also have a lot of experience tutoring kids of all ages in math. I tutored at my local Russian School of Mathematics as well as at my high school through the National Honor Society. I also have experience tutoring high schoolers in chemistry.I love finding ways to explain complicated concepts in simpler ways because not only is it rewarding to help others gain a deeper understanding of a subject I am so passionate about, but because it gives me an opportunity to understand the concept at a deeper level.Aside from my experience tutoring kids in both simple and advanced math concepts, I also have the grades and test scores to indicate my knowledge of the material. I received an 800 both on the SAT II Math Level 2 Exam and the math portion of the SAT. I also received a 5 on the AP calculus exam. I was an active member of my high school's competitive math team and was also the captain as an upperclassman.I truly love working with students and finding the most effective way to help them understand the material at hand. I am very patient and I believe that it is important to highlight how far a student have come, rather than just how much they have left to learn. I grew up in Kansas City, but decided to leave my comfort zone, and attend college in Texas. I graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with minors in Spanish and Chemistry. I am applying to Dental School and hope to one day become a Dentist like my Mother.I enjoy working with kids of all ages and learning abilities. I find it rewarding to share my interests with others. My favorite subjects are Biology and other Human Science courses because I think it is very interesting to discover how our bodies work.I like to introduce a topic slowly, so that it doesn't seem daunting. I also like using real-life examples so the topic is understood and not just memorized. I am an enthusiastic, friendly person who enjoys dancing, crafting, watching sports and spending time outside with friends, in my spare time.

I graduated, cum laude, from Rowan University in 2013 with my BA in English. During this time, I served as a NJ certified substitute teacher. I explored varied career options: manuscript editing for SLACKinc medical publishers, freelance writing for Philadelphia's Headspace magazine, and tutoring privately in English composition. Teaching became a true passion of mine while I was becoming certified to teach English as a foreign language during several weeks in Cusco, Peru. After which, I came back to the States in pursuit of my Master's degree in subject matter education and my NJ standard teaching certificate. When I am not working towards this goal, I am painting, reading, or traveling. I spend much of my spare time on my yoga mat in order to stay in shape for summer hiking trails. I am an avid hiker and backpack traveler and believe in the value of a healthy body and mind. I am a graduate of Clark Atlanta University. I received a Master of Arts degree in Counselor Education with a focus in Community and Mental Health Counseling. I received a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia State University in Middle Grades Education. I am a certified teacher in Language Arts, as well as Reading. I taught 6th and 7th graders English Language Arts over the course of three years.My specialty is writing; I am currently composing three books. I pride myself in finding relatable and engaging techniques to meet the needs of any age group. As a teacher, I collaborated with my resistant and challenged writers to make writing enjoyable and not unbearable. I am always overjoyed when my students that would only write a few sentences in the beginning of the school year can produce five-paragraph essays towards the middle of the school term. In between summers, I have tutored students on ACT and SAT preparation with emphasis on the Reading and Writing components. Nervous and anxious test takers leave my tutoring sessions feeling like victors! I am excited to working with your child in preparing them for either academic or test prep victories.

I graduated from Sewanee: The University of The South in 2015 with a degree in English and Music, two subjects for which I have an unabating passion. While in High School, I had a teacher that helped me find personal meaning within the poems and stories that we read, and that revelation has shaped the course of my life. I want to help other students find that personal connection in their studies, as I believe that is the key to learning.As a musician, I have played the Saxophone for thirteen years, studying under the instruction of Dr. Cesar Leal as I pursued my undergraduate degree.

I completed my undergraduate education in three years at Georgetown University in Washington, DC where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service. I then attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where I was part of the Partners in Los Angeles Education (PLACE) Corps. There I earned my Master of Arts in Secondary Education and my California Single Subject Clear Credential with an authorization in social science. I am currently in the process of adding an English authorization to my credential. I will return to Loyola Marymount to work on a second Master's degree in the Fall.I have been in the classroom for almost four years teaching social studies, religion, and English to grades 5 - 12. I have experience at both the high school and middle school levels. I also was previously a coach for the Catholic School's Junior High Academic Decathlon for multiple subjects. I regularly hold tutoring for my students have much experience tutoring a variety of subjects at the middle school level.I am in education because it is a constantly changing field where one can always work on improving one's teaching. I came to the United States to obtain my undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, Ma. Six years later, I moved to Dallas, TX to work as an elementary school teacher in an urban school district. I've been here for ten years and have spent the entire decade working in education. I have taught all subjects and almost all grades in elementary school. In 2011 I graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Master's in Bilingual Education. In recent years, I have worked as an instructional coach and academic specialist, which has allowed me to look at education from a different lens and therefore given me a comprehensive look at curriculum and instruction.I am currently completing my principal certification and hope to pursue this goal in the near future. The rest of my time is spent with my wife and two children of 1 and 4 years. I played varsity tennis in college and continue to play locally.
