I am an undergraduate student of Columbia University's School of General Studies, majoring in mathematics and will be graduating in May of 2018.Before transferring to Columbia, I worked as a tutor for high school students in northern Virginia for more than 2 years, specializing in math and SAT prep. I have also worked with students on history, science, and essay writing.My tutoring style is geared towards understanding the abstract components of the material at hand, where focus is put not only on what the material is and how to work with the material, but rather on how it all fits together with previous (or those soon-to-come) concepts and why the material matters. I'm a bioengineering student at Rice University. For the duration of my academic career there's always been one thing that's bugged me above all else. Watching a student fail to understand something and a teacher being unable to convey it to that student. I would often find myself offering to help, after either the student or teacher had given up on the question. I found that frequently the problem wasn't in the difficulty in the material, but in the method of instruction. Some people just have a different way of looking at things and might need a more unconventional explanation. I apply this line of reasoning throughout my life, both in my engineering work and while working with friends trying to help each other understand difficult concepts. Sometimes all it takes is a different approach.

I am currently attending the University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Infectious diseases. My goal is to help people better understand basic biology and perhaps attend medical school in the near future.

Since graduation, I have been living in New York and working as a private tutor for families and for individual students.
