Jasmine

I am currently a K-6 English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) teacher and am in my 9th year of teaching. My teaching experience includes teaching 5th grade, ESL at the middle school level, and pre-school. It also includes a diverse learner population including but not limited to new English language learners, students with special needs, students with dyslexia, and students with ADD/ADHD.I have been involved in various tutoring and enrichment programs. Some of this experience has been with enhancing study skills, preparing for state tests, and working with below proficient students. I have a year of Orton Gillingham training (a multisensory and kinesthetic approach to teaching) that has helped my students who require tutoring in reading, phonics, writing, phonemic awareness, and spelling. I love teaching and work hard at making it interesting for all learners. I believe student feedback is essential and pride myself in successfully engaging all students. I understand a student's success is based on the individual's growth and work diligently in helping all learners reach their personal goals. Some of my techniques include use of visuals, technology, hands on experiences, mnemonic devices, music, and other multisensory methods. My lessons are also tiered to ensure learners success.
