Tutoring review by Ronald in Marion, VA
The student and I continued his assignment for Chemistry in Acids and Bases. He read the chapter which helped his understanding of the topic. There was still some struggling with certain concepts that I explained to him in the best way he can understand it. We will continue our lesson on this topic for our next session to make sure he retained the information that I taught him.

Tutoring review by Sarah in Marion, VA
Student #1 had a quiz last week that she made a 94 on. She was very happy. We worked through several problems and practiced different ones on algebraic equations. She does very well with these equations. I am excited to see how she does. Student #2 and I reviewed for his test by using the study guide the teacher gave to them. We went over all of the problems on the study guide and I gave him a few that I made up. We also discussed his homework for the night. I am excited to see how he does on his test as well.

Tutoring review by Sara in Marion, VA
The first student worked on an informational piece about squirrels during her session today. She has really enjoyed writing all of the informative essays on animals. She wrote the essay together today to really cement in the organizational process when writing. She did a great job with the essay, and I feel she is ready to move to writing opinion pieces. The second student wrote an outline for an essay he is going to write on graph usage. He will write the essay for review next week. We then started talking about how to write a persuasive essay. He had already written a persuasive essay for Social Studies class, and he copied it onto the platform for me to read. He had done a great job with the essay, and we were able to use it to point out the strategies he had employed to help persuade his audience. We will do some practice with persuasive writing in the coming weeks as it is a necessary writing skill.

Tutoring review by Matjaz in Marion, VA
Today we have covered gravitational force, both conceptual questions and chug and plug exercises, as well as some more complex calculations. The second part was about projectile motion where we looked into conceptual and mathematical problems also. We discussed the separation between motions in x and y direction, and solved some simpler mathematical problems. The student has good understanding of the topic, and is rapidly getting up to speed with the topic before the upcoming test.

Tutoring review by Jenna in Marion, VA
The student and I met and put the final touches on his first college essay. Then, we created a to-do list to complete before our next session, which included: making a profile on the University, writing a first draft of his second essay, finalizing his list of colleges to apply to with his parents, and allowing his parents to read over his first essay so that they could address any concerns they had.

Tutoring review by Brandon in Marion, VA
I introduced the ideas of composition, chain rule, and implicit derivation. The student was struggling a lot with being intimidated by the complexity of some of the problems initially. However, once we broke them down into manageable parts she picked up the concepts very quickly. The best way to understand complex problems that utilize several different concepts at the same time (such as combining chain rule with product rule), is to solve a small part of the problem at a time. This can be done by separating the problem into different components, solving the component, and then plugging it back into the original equation.
