I am currently a first-year Master's student at the Yale School of Public Health. I received my Bachelor's in biology at UCLA. As a Californian, I enjoy sunny weather and eating avocados.

I am a math enthusiast who is passionate about helping students gain confidence and achieve. I began tutoring other students in middle school and continued throughout high school. I believe all students have the potential to understand math, but they can be intimated or have trouble finding the learning method that works for them. With my extensive experience tutoring students of various age groups through different mediums, I have seen how my emphasis on building a strong foundation and understanding how concepts/formulas work, patience, and encouragement helped students see math in an approachable manner. I participated and scored well in various math competitions throughout high school. Additionally, I am experienced in high school standardized test preparation. I am also a native Mandarin speaker.

I'm now living in New York City pursuing a career in casting and producing theater. Although I have found my passion in the arts, I find great fulfillment tutoring math and science, because I think it's important for students to know they can succeed in these challenging subjects. I seek to develop an individual learning plan for each student, discovering the tools that will best help them succeed. My previous private tutoring clients have gone on to graduate at the top of their class. In addition, I am also an experienced SAT and ACT prep tutor.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Chicago, where I received Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Literature and Linguistics. I have been able to pursue my passion for languages and literature in my career as well as my studies. I am passionate about teaching because I understand greatly a lot of the academic struggles and problems students may face through education, especially as a first generation college student. I am a current sophomore at Brown University, where I study Applied Math and Urban Studies. I have tutored in a high school ESL classroom, as a private tutor, in a local community center, and on online platforms. I am a pre-Occupational Therapy student majoring in psychology with minors in neuroscience and art. I will be graduating with honors from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in May, and I will begin Washington University School of Medicine's Doctorate of Occupational Therapy Program this Fall. I am a graduate of the University of Delaware. I received my Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering degree and obtained minors in Mathematics, Economics, and Biomedical Engineering. Since graduation I've worked for a large diversified manufacturing company in one of their leadership rotational programs. Over the past 2 years I've moved from Hartford, CT to Charlotte, NC and currently reside in Milwaukee, WI. During this time I've been active in the local communities, volunteering up to 10 hours per week. Much of my volunteer work has been focused on helping adult learners in Math and English as they progressed towards obtaining their GED and also helping young learners in the same subjects. I'm Richard and I love teaching. There are few things more rewarding than being able to create enthusiasm for a subject area. My favorites are math, physics and music. I grew up Spanish bilingual and can teach in both languages having TA'd college level Spanish courses. I also lived in Germany for a year and can help students with that. I have a B.S. in Math, B.S. in Physics and a masters degree in Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space sciences. I also work as a professional musician and am a very organized and dedicated freelancer.

Also, in addition to my teaching experience at Purdue, I have been teaching a one week course in Shanghai yearly since 2008 to prepare Chinese Occupational Health and Safety professionals to take the Certified Industrial Hygienist exam and part of what I help them with are some of the tricks of the trade for successfully taking these types of exams. I also helped my daughter prepare for her GRE exam when her GRE Boot Camp program was suddenly cancelled my prep work with her helped her increase her math score approximately 100 points.

I have traveled to France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, and China. I've lived in a suburb of Paris, a small farming island of Japan, and also in Lhasa in the Tibetan region for one summer.
