Tutoring review by Kevin in Front Royal, VA
The student and I went over the basics of trigonometric functions such as sine, cosine and tangent. We spent a good deal of time building familiarity with angles and ratios through constructing 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles. She seemed comfortable with the functions themselves, but needed some help in understanding what they mean and evaluating them. By the end of the night, she seemed to have the hang of things with those special triangles.

Tutoring review by Richard in Front Royal, VA
The student spoke about his goal of taking the ISEE Middle Exam in December. He wants to improve his reading comprehension and lower his anxiety around timed tests. We began by choosing an ISEE lower level practice test as a diagnostic tool. He scored 74% on a mid-range level of difficulty, and we had lots of verbal interaction, clarifying concepts and answering questions. We agreed that he would begin a middle level ISEE practice test this week for review in our next session. After that, he will devote 20 minutes 3 times weekly to completion of various practice tests as his 'homework' between tutoring sessions. I felt very positively about our initial session and look forward to weekly tutoring.

Tutoring review by Michael in Front Royal, VA
The student's test was postponed until this week and we continued to review for it this session. We worked through more practice problems recommended from her teacher. This included: horizontal or vertical shift of functions, finding zeros (real and imaginary) for higher order polynomials, using synthetic division and long division methods, and understanding rules for complex numbers and roots. Overall, the session went well and she seemed to have a good understanding. I gave her a few recommendations on some items to review again, specifically end behavior of even and odd functions.

Tutoring review by Christian in Front Royal, VA
We examined some of the main ideas from Chapter 10, especially covering the concepts of hearths and looking at the Von Thunen model. The student had read this chapter in advance of the session and she was confident with the material. This was by far her best FRQ that she has done with me and she did well on the multiple choice. Next session we will review chapter 9.
