I am a Seattle area math tutor in various subjects, including algebra, trigonometry, calculus and SAT Math test preparation. I graduated with a math degree from Stanford University, and am currently pursuing a PhD in history at the University of Washington. While new to Varsity Tutors, I have years of experience as a private tutor, as well as classroom teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant. For me, tutoring is very student-directed. My teaching style emphasizes flexibility and exploring the kind of learning most suitable to each student. My teaching style also emphasizes understanding how to use and apply formulas and mathematical properties in order to ease the process of memorization.

I am currently an adjunct faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Washington State University Vancouver. In 2019, I received my second M.S. degree in mathematics at Oregon State University under the supervision of Professor Vrushali Bokil.

I am beginning work as a management consultant in the engineering space this summer (2020).

I am currently a graduate level student that will begin work towards my Human Health and Environmental Systems MPH at Oregon Health and Science University in the fall. I held my first tutoring job in high school, where I spent after school and summers working with local elementary school students on reading, writing, and math skills. I loved the rare chance to see the look on a child's face when a tricky concept they had been struggling with suddenly made sense.

I'm a current PhD student in the history department at Georgetown University who is also an experienced instructor with Varsity Tutors. As a recipient of several degrees, the most recent being a BA in history from Hillsdale College and a MA in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies from Stanford University, I have long sought to make teaching my profession. Meanwhile, as a volunteer grade school teacher and a tutor with this company, I have many years' experience helping students reach their full potential. I am capable of teaching students in many subjects, including reading, mathematics, test prep, Latin, and especially writing, history, and literature. In practice, I am comfortable adapting to different learning styles and specific student preferences. Outside of my academic and career endeavors, I enjoy cooking, reading, and listening to and making music.

I love teaching and children, and have discovered my passion in tutoring students who are struggling in Reading and Math. I have taught children with learning disabilities to read, and coached students with dyscalculia in math and reading. I worked as a principal for the past eight years, so was working with students from Pre-K to 8th grade, coaching teachers, analyzing data, and tutoring individual students in math and reading. I have worked as a national park ranger in the past, so social studies and history are areas of strength. Students that I teach respond well to my teaching style and enjoy working with me. I believe that education is extremely important for children's futures and do everything that I can to help them be successful.
