I'm a tutor who loves the moment when a concept finally clickswhether that's solving a calculus problem or debugging a first Python script. With experience teaching math from elementary to college level and professional training in full-stack development, I help students build confidence alongside competence in both math and programming. At Mathnasium, I worked with groups of 4-6 students at different levels, learning to adapt quickly to different learning styles. I bring that same flexibility to teaching HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and other programming languages. I don't just give answersI guide students to discover solutions themselves because that's what sticks. Whether it's explaining why a for-loop isn't working, walking through derivatives, preparing for the SAT, or building a first web page, I focus on understanding over memorization. I'm patient but direct, and I adjust my approach based on what's actually working for each student. My goal is simple: make learning feel achievable, not intimidating, and give students tools they can use long after our sessions end.

I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters degree in Education and have been an Elementary and Middle School educator for over thirty years. I have worked with students in the inner city, suburbs, Appalachia, and Deep South. I love teaching and children, and have discovered my passion in tutoring students who are struggling in Reading and Math. I have taught children with learning disabilities to read, and coached students with dyscalculia in math and reading. I worked as a principal for the past eight years, so was working with students from Pre-K to 8th grade, coaching teachers, analyzing data, and tutoring individual students in math and reading. I have worked as a national park ranger in the past, so social studies and history are areas of strength. Students that I teach respond well to my teaching style and enjoy working with me. I believe that education is extremely important for children's futures and do everything that I can to help them be successful.
I am expecting to complete my PhD within the year. I offer tutoring for English or AP English classes, and writing assignments for any class at any level, as well as SAT, GRE and GRE Literature preparation.
I am currently an adjunct faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Washington State University Vancouver. In 2019, I received my second M.S. degree in mathematics at Oregon State University under the supervision of Professor Vrushali Bokil.
I am a Seattle area math tutor in various subjects, including algebra, trigonometry, calculus and SAT Math test preparation. I graduated with a math degree from Stanford University, and am currently pursuing a PhD in history at the University of Washington. While new to Varsity Tutors, I have years of experience as a private tutor, as well as classroom teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant. For me, tutoring is very student-directed. My teaching style emphasizes flexibility and exploring the kind of learning most suitable to each student. My teaching style also emphasizes understanding how to use and apply formulas and mathematical properties in order to ease the process of memorization.
Hi, I'm Stephanie! I recently graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Biology, earning a 3.9 GPA. With three years of research experience and a strong background in chemistry, biology, physics, math, and engineering, I am eager to tutor STEM subjects from middle school through college levels. I look forward to simplifying challenging concepts, fostering a supportive learning environment, and helping students build confidence. I am committed to helping students find excitement in STEM.
I'm especially passionate about math and science and work in a research lab at Oregon Health and Sciences University. I love helping students do well on tests such as the ACT, SAT, SSAT and the HSPT especially. I am attending Johns Hopkins University and majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
I'm a current PhD student in the history department at Georgetown University who is also an experienced instructor with Varsity Tutors. As a recipient of several degrees, the most recent being a BA in history from Hillsdale College and a MA in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies from Stanford University, I have long sought to make teaching my profession. Meanwhile, as a volunteer grade school teacher and a tutor with this company, I have many years' experience helping students reach their full potential. I am capable of teaching students in many subjects, including reading, mathematics, test prep, Latin, and especially writing, history, and literature. In practice, I am comfortable adapting to different learning styles and specific student preferences. Outside of my academic and career endeavors, I enjoy cooking, reading, and listening to and making music.
I am a premedical student majoring in biology and psychology attending Union College in upstate New York, as part of the 8-year combined "Leadership in Medicine" program with Albany Medical College. Since as early as elementary school, math has been my favorite academic subject, and most of my tutoring experience has been in tutoring math. I enjoy math of all kinds, from algebra to geometry to higher-level mathematics like calculus and statistics, and I find the problems to be like fun mini puzzles where there are different strategies to arrive at the correct answer. I hope to use my skills and experience with math to help clarify confusing concepts and give students the tools they need to solve complex problems. Outside of math, I am also proficient in essay editing and test prep (SAT, ACT, PSAT, AP). I have worked as a college admissions essay editor for over a year and edited essays for students who were accepted to top schools like CalTech, Northwestern, and Northeastern. I would be happy to share editing samples upon request. On both the SAT and ACT exams, I scored in the 99th percentile, with a perfect score on my ACT. It would be a rewarding experience for me to play a part in helping you maximize your academic potential.
I am most passionate about tutoring is mechanics since this is usually a student's first exposure to synthesizing physical theories with mathematical concepts. Overall, I take a conversational approach to tutoring where I try my best to relate the material to the student's life experiences while drawing more conventional analogies that are proven to make the concept click.
I am a certified HR professional with 10 years of experience across a wide range of specializations including employee relations, leaves of absence, multi-state payroll operations, and legal immigration. I am a graduate of Yale University, with a passion for helping students gain admission to their college of choice through admissions essay review and feedback.
I am an English teacher in Round Rock, Texas for students from grades 6-AP. My passion for teaching is rooted in my interest in my students and my desire to invest in them. In May 2017, I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Biola University as well as a California Single Subject English Credential and Texas English Credential. These programs and my work in the classroom have been meaningful experiences for me to develop my skills as an educator. I appreciate the need to address my students' according to their specific needs and capabilities. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is adapting instruction to suit the students I am working with, so that I get to see the moment when lessons "click" for them.

Whether your student attends a school in the Kent School District or nearby areas, we match them with tutors who understand Washington's academic standards and can support their specific learning needs.
Kent students frequently seek tutoring in math, science, and English—subjects that build foundational skills for high school success and standardized testing. We also work with students on AP preparation, SAT/ACT readiness, and support for students who need extra help keeping pace with classroom instruction. Tutors can tailor sessions to your student's specific challenges, whether that's algebra, chemistry, writing, or test strategy.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 17.7:1 in Kent schools, individual students don't always get the focused attention they need to master challenging concepts. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by providing dedicated instruction tailored to your student's pace, learning style, and specific problem areas—something that's difficult for classroom teachers to provide in a group setting.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who are familiar with Washington's academic expectations and assessment frameworks. Whether your student needs to strengthen core skills, prepare for state assessments, or work toward specific grade-level benchmarks, personalized instruction helps bridge gaps and build the competencies required for success in Washington schools.
During the first session, the tutor focuses on understanding your student's current level, learning style, and specific goals. They'll assess what's working well and where support is needed, then develop a personalized plan for future sessions. This foundation ensures that every session after that is targeted and productive.
Tutoring pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and your student's needs. We offer flexible options to fit different budgets and schedules.
