I am a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where I completed my Ph.D. program in Physics. I was doing research in physics for many years, but it always comes a time when you feel you must pass your knowledge to other people, especially those of new generation. So, I started teaching and tutoring then. Originally I was teaching Conceptual, Algebra-Based and Calculus-Based Physics courses at different colleges and universities. Yet, while teaching these courses, I was also unofficially "tutoring" the students during my office hours when they were coming with their concerns and confusions. Officially, my tutoring started in January 2017, when I was offered to tutor at Science Learning Center of Stark State College in North Canton, Ohio. One thing I like in tutoring is the opportunity to work with students individually and use personal approaches to direct them to the success in their studies, rather than teaching an "average student" standing at a whiteboard or a projector screen. I am tutoring College, University and AP Physics courses, also I am able to tutor algebra/trigonometry and calculus. Rather that just giving the students the equations to solve the desired problems, I prefer to make the students work themselves, concentrating myself in directing them whenever it is necessary and explaining the subtle points of the confusing material studied. During the tests the students are left with their task alone with no help form anyone, and my goal is to make them able to deal with such tasks successfully. Hobbies: art, books, writing, reading, music

I'm incredibly well-rounded in terms of what I'm capable of teaching and moreover, have a generally positive pedagogical approach to everything; I really do love teaching. Even fields in which I have little experience become a contest with myself to master solely for the sake of helping a student. I have extensive experience in reading, writing, and editing (I've been published several times over as both head author and editor) and its something that I truly love to do. I currently hold three Undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Physics, and Linguistics, as well as two Graduate degrees in Philosophy and Theology. From basic English to advanced Banjo I look forward to engaging in any assignment that anyone may have for me!

Frequently Asked Questions

Many students can follow steps without grasping the 'why' behind them—this is where personalized 1-on-1 instruction makes a real difference. Math Substitute tutors break down abstract concepts into concrete examples, help students see patterns and connections, and encourage them to explain their reasoning aloud. Instead of just practicing procedures, students learn to visualize problems, understand when to apply different strategies, and develop genuine mathematical thinking. This deeper understanding sticks around and makes new topics easier to learn.

Word problems require students to translate language into mathematical operations—that's a skill separate from calculation. Many students get stuck because they don't know where to start or how to organize information. A Math Substitute tutor teaches students a systematic approach: identifying what you know, what you're looking for, and which operations connect them. Tutors model this thinking process repeatedly until students can apply it independently, turning word problems from intimidating into manageable.

Showing work reveals your thinking and helps catch mistakes—it's not just for grades. When students skip steps or work mentally, they're more likely to make careless errors and struggle to find where things went wrong. Math Substitute tutors emphasize clear step-by-step solutions, not because of teacher requirements, but because it builds accountability and problem-solving skills. Over time, students develop the habit of organizing their work, which improves accuracy and confidence on tests and assignments.

Different schools use different textbooks and teaching methods—what works in one classroom might not match another. When you connect with a Math Substitute tutor, they ask about your student's specific curriculum, textbook, and classroom approach to ensure personalized instruction aligns with what's being taught. This prevents confusion from learning conflicting methods and helps students feel more confident in class. Tutors also bridge gaps if a student is using an unfamiliar approach or moving between schools with different curricula.

Multi-step equations overwhelm students because there are many places to make mistakes. The key is breaking them into smaller, manageable pieces and working systematically. Math Substitute tutors teach students to isolate variables step-by-step, check their work at each stage, and understand why each operation is valid. Rather than rushing through problems, students learn to slow down, stay organized, and verify their solutions—skills that build both accuracy and confidence with harder material.

Graphing and proofs involve spatial reasoning and logical argument—skills that don't always come naturally. Math Substitute tutors use visual tools, multiple representations (equations, graphs, tables), and guided practice to help students connect abstract concepts to concrete pictures. For proofs, tutors teach students how to structure logical arguments, identify what's given and what needs proving, and build confidence one step at a time. Breaking these topics into smaller, digestible pieces transforms them from confusing to approachable.

Math anxiety often stems from past struggles, fear of making mistakes, or comparing yourself to peers. In personalized 1-on-1 instruction, there's no judgment—just a patient expert helping you understand. Math Substitute tutors create safe spaces to ask questions, make mistakes, and try again. As students experience small wins and begin to understand concepts they once found impossible, their confidence naturally builds. This shift from 'I can't do math' to 'I can figure this out' transforms not just test scores, but how students approach challenges in and out of the classroom.
