Hi, I attend "THE" Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications. My concentrations are Public Relations an Broadcasting. I will graduate in December of 2018. I began teaching online English for students in China and Japan a year ago. I have been tutoring however since high school, where I was an honor graduate with a 4.0 GPA. So far, I have enjoyed every second of teaching. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, singing with my family, and hanging out with friends. I'm also a Motivational Speaker. Three very successful techniques that I have adopted over my time tutoring are as follows: The Pause Procedure allows students voices to be heard more often than my own, preventing them from zoning out and losing interest; Think - Pair - Share allows students to reflect when answering a question and encourages discussion and collaboration; and Personality Explanation which permits students to add energy and their own personal touch to the answers they provide. I am passionate about teaching because I enjoy being able to have a positive impact on a student's learning experience.

I have been a teacher for almost twenty years now at the college level, and I have also worked with high school students during that time in such areas as Composition, College Essay prep, Grammar, Spelling and Literature. I also have a degree in French with a minor in Translation, and I have taught creative writing in both fiction and poetry. After graduating, I taught in various capacities including as a high school history teacher, a college English teacher in Turkey through the Fulbright Student Program, and created and executed professional development workshops in two West Philadelphia schools while working as part of the University of Pennsylvania's Netter Center for Community Partnerships. These experiences have provided me with the ability to adhere to the needs of a variety of learners. Currently, I am finishing up my M.A in history at the University of Cincinnati and will be entering into a joint Ph.D. program studying the history of education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My expertise as both a historian and as an educator provide me with the tools needed to help my students succeed.

I have also worked in an after school program with elementary age children, but I have my fondest memories volunteering as a counselor for Camp Kesem. Additionally, I have helped teach a microbiology lab course at UW-Madison. Having the opportunity to teach others about the things I have a passion for fills me with so much excitement.
