As career educator who is also a former procrastinator, I am well-equipped to assist students in a variety of academic subjects and study skills. I've taught middle and high school students, and spent the past 10 years teaching English Lit and Composition to college and post graduate students.

I am a graduate of Caldwell University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Since graduation, I have tutored students primarily in the core from elementary to middle school. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Science, Math, and History. In my experience, helping students needing to improve through a new fun approach. School is already very structured, so I like to take the learning to a more fun approach. We can also prepare for Standardized Tests, etc. I love learning and teaching and there is nothing that a student cannot learn. All you need is a little extra help, nothing short of your own true success. In my spare time, I enjoy martial arts, mostly Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

My personal belief is that every student is capable of learning every topic, each in their own way.

I have been working with kids since tutoring back in middle school until now serving as an elementary teacher. I have a passion for creating a work ethic within the children where they no longer believe in the phrase "I can't" but a "I can but it may take more work" mentality. My teaching philosophy is based on engaged learning rather than memorization. Memorization can be forgotten as quickly as it is learned, however if the learning is applied to an interest of the student it sticks longer. I enjoy tutoring students in math as it is fun to see the transition from concrete thinking (finger counting/manipulatives) into abstract thinking (word/application problems).

I am currently working towards a professional degree in occupational therapy at Washington University School of Medicine. I graduated several years ago from Wheaton College with a B.S. in Applied Health Science and a minor in Psychology. I enjoy helping others learn and develop the skills to excel in academia. My tutoring interests include math, health sciences, and several standardized tests. In my free time, I like to hike, read, watch Netflix, eat good food, and play sports with friends!

I joined the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center in late 1996 and worked in a drug design and development lab for 11 years. I worked a few years in a small start-up and then became a high school teacher and that is where I am currently.I enjoy outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, archery, shooting sports and motorcycles. I make my own bows and I love to read: Mostly fiction but some nonfiction from time to time.

I am an avid Yankees, Football Giants, Knicks, Saint Joseph's University, and Siena College basketball fan.
