In my time offstage last year, I served as a long-term English 7 and Honors English 8 substitute teacher, Prealgebra and Algebra 1 tutor, and 8th grade graduation project coordinator for St. John's Jesuit Academy, my alma mater junior high in Toledo, OH. Math and English were my two favorite subjects that age--and still are--and watching my students' gears spin and make new connections was vastly rewarding. When working with students, it is important to acknowledge what their foundation is before overwhelming them with information. Taking the time to ensure they understand concepts yields the most success. Working together, be it in the classroom, on the field, or on stage, always generates positive results. In my spare time, you can find me playing guitar, teaching myself piano, watching Penn State football, solving the NYT crossword, or napping.
