About Me

Hello, my name is Eric! I'm originally from Erie, PA, where I graduated from Gannon University with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry. While at Gannon University I spent time working in the Math & Science Center, tutoring fellow undergraduate students in various math and science subjects, including : calculus I, calculus II, pre-calculus, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. I also tutored students in various chemistry subjects as well as physics I and II. After graduating from Gannon University, I moved to Richmond, VA to get my PhD in Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. At VCU, I took several graduate level chemistry courses that have sharpened my expertise, as well as engaging in graduate level research for the past five years, specializing in physical chemistry, and publishing two first-author papers in ACS Langmuir. In addition, I worked as a TA at VCU for all five of my years there, teaching students in introductory chemistry, general chemistry I, general chemistry II, and physical chemistry I-III.Tutoring at Gannon University made me fall in love with teaching and fueled my desire to become a professor, leading to my decision to go to VCU for my PhD. I am extremely passionate about science and love helping students come to a place of understanding and appreciation for the material they are learning. The "ah-ha!" moment when students go from confusion to understanding is something I take great joy in and hope to continue to do so by tutoring through wyzant.
