About Me

I am currently a PhD student in the English department at the University of Texas at Austin. I also hold a Master of Letters in Romantic and Victorian Literature from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, as well as a BA in English (Writing concentration) and a minor in business administration. Prior to pursuing my PhD, I worked as corporate communications consultant and a client manager/tutor coach for high-end tutoring firm in New York City. My tutoring experience is vast as I have worked with refugees as they sought to improve reading, writing, and interview skills, K-6 students as they persevered through phonics and reading comprehension, and high school, undergraduate, and graduate students across disciplines through the brainstorming, drafting, and revising stages of the writing process. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English (literature and writing) and public speaking. In my experience helping students with standardized tests, we always have the most fun and success when partnering together on the Critical Reading and Writing portions of exams. I have also worked communications consultant for several Fortune 500 companies, so yes, I can tell you that the skills we develop in English class really do matter in "the real world."
