About Me

I have over 30 years working with students of all ages. My primary work has been with teenagers. I have degrees in Special Education, Secondary Language Arts (High School), and School Administration. I am currently certified to teach PP-12th grade. My most recent teaching experience was 12 years in a public high school as a Resource Room teacher where I was exposed to multiple subject areas in all grades. I have taught academic and study skills, learning strategies classes and High School Literature and Composition classes. I am looking forward to helping your child improve their skills in reading comprehension and fluency as well as writing across content areas. I believe that children learn best when provided with real world, hands-on experiences that are challenging and collaborative. Students are capable of more than they know and will push their own perceived limits when given a supportive learning environment. My goal is to provide this environment to students whether I am working with them 1:1 through tutoring, or in small or large groups in the classroom. Lessons should help children not only learn facts, but help them make sense of the world and their own place in it.
