About Me

I come from a family of seven kids, surrounded by other families who had anywhere from seven to twelve kids! Born to be a babysitter, I often helped most of the kids through homework problems, teaching little ones how to read and proof-reading the papers for the older ones. This early start at what I soon realized was tutoring/teaching led me to attend graduate school at Drew University where I am earning my Masters in Teaching degree with certifications in English and theatre. Before enrolling in the Masters program, I graduated from Drew with a Theatre major, plus two minors in music and arts administration. I enjoy tutoring any subject; I am the type of person that gets happy about little things and as long as I can help a student understand something, I am enjoying the process. Because of that, one day, tutoring writing may be my favorite while another day all I want to do is to keep working on reading comprehension. Besides teaching and getting through my graduate program, I am devoted to playing rugby, making music, singing and playing my ukulele any chance I get. Student personal interests are also just as important to me to know about, in addition to their academic inclinations and abilities. I am excited to incorporate personal interests and aspirations into tutoring sessions so that no matter how tedious work can feel, there is always a bit of interest to keep everyone motivated!
